So, I'm just curious what a lot of us had prior to our M's. I didn't see a similar thread, so I started one.

2003-2006 - 1997 Nissan Maxima GXE

History: My 'first' (I had a 92 Geo Storm and 92 Subaru Legacy AWD Turbo prior to this one - but I just drove those - didn't do anything to them) car that I actually maintained and modded slightly or was otherwise 'into'.

Mods: Stock except for stereo, small system, 'red/clear' tail lights, and 16" allow wheels from SE




When I hit a deer at 75mph at 3am coming home from a trip out of town. I fixed it the next day because I had a parts car luckily (long story):

2006-2010 - 1999 Nissan Maxima SE

History: My first Baby. Purchased in 2006 with 26kmi. Had it till it just hit 100,000. I babied the CRAP out of this car.

Mods: Illumina Struts/H&R Springs (1.4" or so), custom Acura TL bi-xenon retrofit projectors with ZKW replica lens, custom LED tail lights, powerful system with a Kenwood DNX8120 controlling it. At one point I had a full headers back exhaust and an 00VI (2000 Maxima upper manifold mod), but went back to stock due to noise and a couple of small issues with the 00VI. Also had 18" 5Zigen FN01R-C's on it. This is the car I got the 'mod bug' in. Now I can't stop.

You can also tell the progression my picture taking ability has made lol. I am now pretty decent with a camera and am starting my own photography business for weddings and such.

Kinda surprised a lot of us had Maximas. I've seen other threads where people mentioned they had them. But then again, Infiniti is part of Nissan, so maybe I'm not surprised. I love Infiniti and Nissan because I know how they make their cars, etc. I'm probably going to be an Infiniti guy from here on out.

I tend to keep cars a long time, so I haven't had that many since college. All were bought new.

I traded most of them. God, do I wish I had a few of those back today. Have to say out of all of them the M45 rates the highest in overall power, handling, comfort, luxury, speed, etc. A few of my past ones could take 1st in any one category, but not overall. Love the M and I can't find a dang car on the market today that does what it does for the price.

1st.....
"89 Honda Accord LX with Acura Legend rims lol I miss this car the most, just the way it was built was perfect. The whole dashboard and front was ergonomically done right and simple.

2nd.....the investment
"94 Honda Civic EX, I bought this car as an investment. I'm 6'2 not exactly the most comfortable car to get out of. But a friend sold it to me for cheap ($2,500) and I sold it a month later for $4,800.

3rd....The big mistake
96 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition, I love how it felt, it was like driving a couch. But was not reliable at all. F.O.R.D = Found On Road Dead....and that it did. Transmission went while I was doing 80mph on a 3 lane highway, all power lost, and I had to figure out how to get this truck pushed to the other side of the road without getting hit. I'll never buy American again.

4th.....My favorite car
2000 Toyota Solara SLE.....I drove this car for 5 years. It was entry level luxury, everything about this car was built right (to me at least!). It was a coupe, but the inside was large and surprised anyone who sat in it. No major repairs at all, just maintained it according to the schedule. I miss it and compare the creature comforts to the M35 alot, "but my Solara had this...".


5th.....Big Boy toy
2007 Infiniti M35x.....After months of researching and looking for a replacement to move up to. I looked at the all full size Luxury Sedans with all wheel drive (the snow can get crazy up here). And the M35x had the best balance of all, including styling and exclusivity. Not too many M35x can be found on the road. I can count the 3 or 4 in my city, this attracted me more. I didn't want to be another 20 something year old in an Infiniti G (no offense to the G owners) and it was way too cramped inside for my tastes. I love my M35x and she makes me smile every time I walk up to her.
