My friend has a miata... no power, 5 speed.... tein ha coilovers, 16" wheels with 195 falken azenis... that car can take a 90 degree turn at like 50 and not even squell or slide a tire. I have never been in something that handled so well.

The Celica was RWD until 85. Then in 86 they completely ruined it.

86 was the last year it was offered in RWD form. My friend Adam has an 86 celica and it's RWD But yes, the platform was ruined after that, and the supra was no longere remembered as the Celica-Supra like it used to be called.

the celica was available in AWD until 1993 I think...the alltracs are amazing, talk about a cult car. over a decade old and they will still sell for 6000 bucks with 100k on them.

actaully, the last gen with the 4 lights was offered in a GT4 trim level, just not here.

also, the Levin/Trueno-AE92-up were not bad. remember, thats when they started offereing the 4AGZE. i've seen some badass looking AE101s and AE111s.

and yeah, i think they should go back to the old days of the silvia, back in the 60s-70s when it WAS sleek looking. stick the mirrors way out on the hood. thats class.

Seriously, IF... and that's a big if... they are working on a new silvia, it would be RWD. If it were FF, it would be direct competition with the Sentra (bad business). I find it hard to believe they are working on a new silvia, as it would compete with the Z to a certain point, but there is a market for a cheaper RWD car, especially if it has a hatch option. Nissan doesn't make a single car with a hatch right now, ridiculous.

If they are smart, they will basically make a RWD Mazda 6.

Silvia was around while the Z32 was around and that didn't cause any upsets. I don't see why a new Silvia should threaten the Z33, even if it is priced lower than the Z32 was. Besides, the two cars would have very different target demographics, the Z being older guys with nice jobs and three other cars, and the Silvia being targeted to college age kids and girls with rich dads. Its the same as the deal with the Maxima and the 3.5 liter Altima. There is no competition because they are not the same class of car.

I disagree with the maxima and altima comparison. I know a lot of people have said that the altima is more desirable cause it cost less and looks better. They really are too similar.

the reason the S13/S14 didnt hurt the Z32 sales is becasue the SR20 wasnt offered in them. think about it: a smaller, lighter, cheaper car with 205-220hp. this would directly attack the Z32 N/A sales, which werent doing to well in the later years. if they did bring out another car like the Silvia, it would interfer with SER sales, and lower model Z sales. not much, but it would do something. odds are, it would be a limited run or not brought here at all.

some people might be buying nissans right now, but when the pontiac solstice and other 20k range rwd cars start coming out, watch how many people flock to them. How many people are driving srt 4's that just a year or two ago would have said "I don't care what they do, I'll never be driving a dodge neon?"

RWD is the new silver.
