Does anyone have ANY suggestions as far as adding something to it? I see all these other peoples new cars and its like "slam that b****" or "get rid of those headlights" etc etc. Im a little bit mod happy right now. which is a bad thing cuz i have a 300 dollar insurance payment plus a few maintenance issues

The price IS pretty high but understandable how did you find such a clean car that old in canada? did a little old lady drive that thing the past 20 years?

Well it depends on what you're going to use it for. If I had that thing, the first things on would be coilovers, sway bars, lsd, etc. for drifting.

But if you want it to be more for show, get a conversion.

Just depends on your plans for the car and the cash you have.

My plans for the car are pretty extensive but ill give you a lay out. 1. fix ALL the small mechanical issues i.e. the small idle issue, the new clutch has a bit of play in it, and a few other little things that the inspection came out with. 2. Get all the suspension out of the way, bushings done etc etc.3. I gotta get some new wheels. havnt decided on the ones yet but im thinking a nice black with a polished lip would give my car a nice effect. While doin that ill get some tires for the summer as well as the ones are the car are winter tires.4. I am going to have to do a silvia front swap. I cant resist it. i know that after all this, a motor swap should be done but why have a fast car when you cant show it off a little you know? plus my hood has a bit of paint fade and some small non visible possible rock scratches? cant see them when you look at it but when you put your nose up to the hood u can see them. 5. after all that Ill swap in that sr20. after i get to know some guys around town who can give me a hand with the wiring and such.

Sorry for the long post but you asked!
I can see ur excited but think about this. You paid 4900, meh. You could pick up a running s13 for 2000 easy. Also you said there are problems with it. This is the biggest thing for me, you bought a car with a good paintjob yet you want a silvia front end because yours is peeling meaning its a s***ty job. This is just a guess, but you said one side still had the black trim on it. I bet that it hasnt been painted under there just masked off. you could have bought a decent shape car for around 2000, got ur silvia and spent 2000 on a paint job and be sitting right were you are now, but instead you are gonna spend close to 6000 total and have a stock height 240 with huge wheel gap and a mismatched paintjob which you are gonna have to pay even more to get painted. Just my $.02.

Just my $.02.
Well I do respect your opinion. But these plans are just a basic layout which i wont even be able to start til maybe this summer. But a couple of things that you may have missed. first off, this is very basic so dont get your panties in a knot about not painting the car. and it has been painted under tha black trim. It was just glued on though.

Maybe you missed it but "get the suspension stuff out of the way". as well as "Gotta get some new wheels". So no i will not have a stock ride height nor huge wheel gap.

As well my parents were very skeptical on buying a 20 year old car as my first car (My bro got a 15 000 2003 tiburon paid for in full by my parents when i have to pay for my car all myself. not a big deal because I know I have a nicer car than him .) Moral of the story is, when my parents seen that it had no rust and 135 000kms. it was basically my only way of having a 240. And now I have it, paid 4900. And im the happiest guy alive. Also do you know how rare a coupe is up here? Or how about a coupe with 0 rust. No I could not find a running coupe thats not about to fall apart for $2000 in Canada. I would not have done this any other way. i love my car. Hopefully you can accept that, if not gtfo.

**Edit- I REALLY need to start using that enter key....sorry guys ill fix that.

Funny that you asked. When i looked at the vehicle information report. It said the car was first registered in 1998. meaning it sat for 9 years or someone drove it with no registration. Then the PO told me that he bought it off a mechanic in calgary who bought it from BC in 2004. So the first owner had this car for 15 years. Thats pretty good IMO. But the PO was a 17 year old guy. He was very mature though which i liked and judging by the tire tread, he did not drive the car hard.

my hatch was 3700 after taxes. the ac pump exploded ten miles away from the stealership. all struts were blown, all suspension bushings torn, and it burned oil. I drove that car so hard I eventually developed holes in my pistons and the car began to smoke like a line of 2 stroke bikes at a supercross race

I don't think many people on these boards actually realize how hard it is to find S-chassis up here as well. It is ridiculously hard, and when you do find them there is terrible frame rot and they are still asking $3000.

Clean ride, I would do suspension first and general maintenance.

best of luck!

Thanks again guys. So today i had a little "issue" im debating on whether or not to post another topic on this one. nahhh ill just tell it in here.

So Today i was cleanin out my back seat, gettin ready to take that big a** 12" sub out. I unhooked the sub, got it out with some twisting and flipping. Go for a small cruise, i get about halfway out of my subdivision and it dies. My engine stopped, my running lights were off, my deck was off. All shut down, so i pulled it over, popped the hood, and called my buddy to see if he could boost me and see if we can figure out why the hell it quit on me.

So i found the two wires that were connected to my sub. i think it was the main power and the...ummm I dunno another black one with a silver funky lookin peice on the end of it. maybe the hook up to the deck? I dunno, I touched them together for some random reason and my lights go on! everything is on so i figure start it up? yeahhh so i turned the key and it would even turn over. So we tried boosting it with his truck. didnt work.

So we cursed for a bit, kicked the tire, apologized to the tire, then proceeded to figure this f***er out. My buddy had the brilliant idea of checking the fuses because maybe the PO wired the sub wrong. So we checked a few and came across 1 that was blown. Looked on the cover, turns out it was the ignition fuse. Go figure. So i swapped out my pwr window fuse to the ignition fuse and what do ya know? started right up. went to crappy tire, bought a fuse for 4 bucks and I was good to go. Later today we re wired the amp and turns out he didnt even have the amp grounded at all. maybe that tripped the fuse?

So we bridged the amp, re positioned it so that its on my back seat facing the trunk. got the tunes pumpin and for the time ever, i heard the sub. Damn this thing is loouudddd. it shakes my facial hair. along with a good back massage with the seat rumblin. Anyhow thats my day! it was actually incredibly fun workin on my car for the first time. makes me happy that ill be doin that lots this summer. but sad that my wallet will pay the detrements.

Could you by chance have left the wires unhooked from the amp and did not wrap them up? Happened to me before. Didn't know what the f*** was going on when my car shorted out. No fuse blow but my car completely surged to a stop. Power wire from amp grounded. 3000watts definitely shuts off a car.

Yes i agree. But I must say that I have virtually no experience with cars until this one but reading up on the internet must have saved me about 300-400 bucks on labour to take it to a shop. plus the tow fee. plus the fee the comes with the tow truck dude hittin something or scratching something on my car. plus all the extra bulls*** that they wouldve added. "oh there were tiny unicorns in your exaust pipe jumping and poking holes so we had to replace that"

I had them wrapped up in some electrical tape but they were just laying on the ground. We didnt find a ground though at all. I grounded it to my strut tower, is that fine?

Well unless it was completely covered electricity can jump. And if there is a power wire going to a amp, regardless if you have a ground wire or not, power wires will still if close enough to metal, arc. So yah power wire will ground itself.

So your saying its my fault? damn i thought i could blame this one on the PO. So your saying that if you have an amp, you hook it up to your battery and what not, you cant unplug that connection to the amp and go about your way?

Hopefully the hobbit that turns the crankshaft doesn't get depressed. Therapy gets pricey...

I love the car. I'm considering a 240 to pair up with my Q45. Yours looks awesome.

Oh and the trolls inside of your battery doing the soulja boy might get a little tired.

Thank you very much man. Get a 240. You wont regret it. Funner than ever to work on.
