Not every situation requires our patented approach of shoot first, shoot later, shoot some more and then when everybody's dead try to ask a question or two

No, really. There _has_ to be some situations out there where the solution is not "kill'em".....

I love this one: http://www.islamfortoday.com/khan09.htm
Muqtedar Khan, Ph.D. wrote:Before we rush to condemn America we must remember that even today millions of poor and miserable people all across the world are lining up outside US embassies eager to come to America, not just to live here but to become an American. No Muslim country today, can claim that people of other nations and other faiths see it as a promise of hope, equality, dignity and prosperity.

You and your men on the other hand face nothing but defeat, global ridicule and contempt and run and hide like rats in caves and dungeons. You live in the dark. Your faith neither enlightens you nor enables you to live in the light and you have made Islam the currency of hate and violence.
Brilliant and eloquent. NOW, my question is, WHY was this not printed in bold-face type on the front of every American newspaper?

What better way to galvanize Muslim support than to read such eloquent and stirring words from one of their own accomplished countrymen?

The mainstream media needs a barbed-wire enema.

its because us darkies never do anything good. actually, as i sit here and type this atop my camel, im concurrently plotting the overthrow of several governments, and am filled with irrational anger. Did i mention I burned 2 israeli flags today and chanted death to america for an hour before having a nice salad for dinner. In the eyes of many people in america, thats what comes to mind when muslims are mentioned. Its the same reason why newspapers never lead with "Black man innocent, victim of racial bias."

you know AZ, while I may differ with you one some major issues facing our country today, I have great respect for you and many of the other contributers to this Politics forum, because of the civility and respect with which you debate. I truly appreciate that you take time to actually read up on things you know less about, rather than coming and spouting party rhetoric. If only more people in this country behaved this way, we'd be in much better shape. Keep the good work rollin.

Likewise, brother.

One thing I've learned over the past several years - People who believe they can never find common ground are often the closest to it.

Think about why that might be.... It's pretty profound, especially for a doofus like me.

There is good stuff there, yes!

I did not put many other links (from that site or others) in my earlier post, because they would have been more religious in tone than political and that is not where we want to go here in this forum! I tried to be selective in finding the ones related to show where Muslims are indeed speaking out against terrorism ... but, unfortunately, not being heard too well in the mainstream media.

The mistrust in both sides in the Mideast, due to hard - often personal (like a loss of a loved one or property, etc.) - reasons, has made it tough to find a solution. The rhetoric and political posturing by all the national leaders is just so damn tough to swallow too.

Sometimes, even I (non-war type that I am) think it might be easiest to throw up our hands and glaze the sands over the entire area into glass. So, like Tariq mentioned, I am glad that this very sensitive topic is being discussed with rational debate here.
