well as we all know the skyline is the G35, but in japan, is the skyline now below the 35oZ, im sure most people know, even the best g35 coupe 6MT will come close, but not beat the track Z, so in japan, is the Z now on top, or only till the GT-R comes out or waht?

i dont remember where I read this but suprisingly the G35 is pretty much dead even with the Z around a track. kinda weird but true.

Well considering they're basically the same car, with the same engine, running at almost the same power, I'd say their about the same (well...the skylines a bit heavier but still) (get it?). The fairlady and skyline are basically dead even and they're gonna start competing with one another...

thats what i thought, which is completely stupid IMO, i dont really understand it, but wasnt really my call, so whatever, but considering the Z is a tad qiucker now, when the 'GT-R' comes out (if it ever does) im assuming its going to be much quicker than the Z?

the skyline is gone forever, if it does get ressurected then it better come with a INLINE 6, not a V6!! or it wont be a skyline thats my opinion.

The RB engine afaik is gone...for good most likely. I wish they would bring it back, matter of fact I wish they wouldn't have pulled this crap of bastardizing the skyline like this, but hey it wasn't my call. I'll still get a R34 sooner or later. Maybe the R35 will surprise me...

welcome to NICO drft_18osx, i hope u find everyone here very helpful and informative, and actually, the skyline is not gone, in japan they call our G35, a skyline, now the GT-R on the other hand, is gone, for the time being anyway, and i wouldnt mind the GT-R having a v6, especially the VQ, as long as it maintains its heritage for the most part, its fine by me

If they maintain the heritage I guess all is not lost. I still prefer an I-6 to a v6 though. And IMO the best looking skyline was the R33:D.

i think the wheels defintely bring out hte better of the car, but to me, the 34 still looks the best, put those same wheels on that 34, and give it to me in bayside blue metallic, or even that same silver, and id' take the 34 hands down

Out of curiousity, why would you want an Inline over a V style engine?

Didn't the Skylines retain their AWD in Japan, with us getting the RWD G35? I think that would be a one-up on the Z.

Mayhem its just personal preferance. Nothing technical, because the whole i6 is smoother than v6 argument was thrown out the window with the VQ...its very very smooth. Just...personal preferance.

thanks for the welcome. when i said skyline i meant the gtr thanks for the correction. i always saw it as z cars <- v6's. gtr's <- inline 6. also wasnt the z32 and r33 based on different chassis's (sp?)? the g35 and 350z are based on the same chassis, which kinda makes it weird and they'll be using the same damn engine. so why even come out with a new exterior style for the gtr and not just call the vq35dett 350zTT?

the Z group and the Skyline group used to be "enemies" with each other in Nissan Japan. two totally different groups. the skyline group being older, the Z group being a little more popular here in america. when Nissan was bought by Renault, they said that one of the cars had to go. but im guessing that with such a strong following to each, they decided to merge them and make the Z and base skyline the same car. and yes, i'd like to see a TT I6 over a V6, or for that matter, a TT VH45 would be nice in a GT-R and i think the 72 2dr skyline looked the best, Ken and Mary second to that, and the R32 in 3rd.

Z cars were traditionally inline 6s also. Things change. Nissan thinks it for the better to go V6, in the past on the Z and now with the Skyline.

I feel they should have kept the inline six in the Skyline too, keeping with the traditional engine type.

i agree with either totally doing away with the skyline, and just having a TT 35oZ, or just making the skyline a totally different platform than the 35oZ (which won't happen cause nissan wants to save as much money as possible) and APEXi24o, the skyline in japan is the SAME car as our G35, except of course the steering wheel is on teh other side, and the speedo is in KPH, but as far as 4wd, no, even teh JDM skyline doesnt have it anymore, atleast not until the GT-R comes out

V6 takes a lot less room in the hood, which saves weight, which saves money, which was why Renault came into the picture in the first place, lack of money. I don't mind if they share the same engine, the GT-R could have a TT Z engine in it for all I care, the RB is gone, so... anyway, the true mastery of the GT-R was the AWD, so that is what they will use to keep them apart.

the AWD and the Hicas system. and the RB was a tenological masterpiece, but then VQ is also a wonderful engine. a TT version would be more than welcome IMO

Apex'i youre mistaken. You are looking at the 4-door Skyline (G35 Sedan) that says "rear/4wd fulltime" the coupe on the other hand only says Rear. chexk it out.

why the hell would hte sedan have 4wd, and the coupe not?? that doesnt make any sense, and also, if you look at the engines availabe for the sedan, you have the 3.5 (vq35de) 2.5 (QR25??, i doubt they put the RB25 in it) and then a 3.o liter (VQ3o??)

Why don't people just say it.. The skyline is gone.... no matter what nissans does to come out with another one.. its not gonna be the same.. everyone knows that.. This is nissans fault.. and they'll know that when they produce it.. its not gonna market... I dislike nissan for doing this very much
