No, not nissans fault, Renaults fault. They made nissan chose which one would go, and it was the skyline unfortunately...

The R34 Skyline was the best all around sports car in the world....Nissan's choice of killing the line and then wanting to sell us a cheap looking excuse to replace the infamous GTR is just lame. We all know that the Skyline will always rein supreme. I think that discontinuing the line is a big big mistake on Nissan's part. Hey, I"d kill for one!!!

How's this for an idea...maybe nissan is just selling the g35 in the usa to develope a user base, then they're gonna drop the gtr on us in the states, that way the rich people that are gonna be able to buy the g35 coupe 10 years from now will know what the g-series is, and what type of performance it is gonna give you. It's kinda like the acura integra gs-r/ subaru wrx, the put out a high performance vehicle that was second to the type-r and sti, respectively. It helps them get a idea of how the market is gonna react to their cars.

I feel they should have kept the inline six in the Skyline too, keeping with the traditional engine type.

Actually if you wanna get technical the traditional Skyline engine type is a GA30 1.5L inline four, in the origional Skyline built back in 1955. They didnt start putting i-6's in until 1967

valid points, but when we got the RSX type S and subaru WRX, the STi and type R had already made their debut in japan, rite now there are NO o3 or o4 GT-Rs, and i can see your point about introuducing it to the U.S market, but hell, we already have the Z, and look how well those sold, so why bother calling the G35 a 'skyline' to get us ready for a GT-R, which , nissan KNOWS will sell as long as its under 6ok or so

If you really want to get technical, original and traditional do not mean the same thing. Most people relate a Skyline's engine to an in-line 6.

Skyline isn't dead, it's different, to some people that means dead. These are usually the same people that say the Z died after the 280. The Skyline GT-R on the other hand IS dead.

The delay of the new GT-R is so because of all the new performance cars coming out (in my opinion). You have to be able to in some way trump them all (the ones in your price range anyway), and that takes time. Not the best example, but kinda like how the M3 came out three years after the remodeled 3-series. (I know that the GT-R will be considered a completely different vehicle than the Skyline, that's why I said it wasn't the best example.)

maybe not the best example, but very valid points, when teh 35oZ came out, it beats everything in its price category, with its main competition being the S2ooo (which it doesnt kill as much as i wish it would ;)), this is another reason you see so many zo6s around, for 5ok theres nothing that can come close
