NICO's Dallas correspondent, Chris Underwood, went on a road trip to the Hotel ZaZa and you will never guess what he found. The Infiniti Essence....

This car was designed by Takashi Nakijima to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Infiniti. The Essence made its debut at the '09 Geneva Motor Show. If you get a chance to see this car on display as it makes its journey across the country, you'd better take it. The car isn't for sale and there are no plans to make it a production vehicle. However, most of the styling cues and technology you see here will make it into Infiniti's upcoming lineup.

Features include:

- a twin turbo, 3.7L V6 Hybrid. Gas rated 430 bhp, electric motor 160 bhp.

- a platform that slides out when the trunk is opened by remote (aids in the easy removal of luggage)

- sensors on the sides and back of the Essence warn the driver when it senses a vehicle; brakes will activate if the warning is ignored

- it has NO rearview mirrors

- 5 exterior cameras create a panoramic image on the windshield for increased rear visibility

Take a good look everyone, this might be the only place we ever see one.

Thanks again Chris for covering this event and sharing the pictures and info.

As always, the teaser pics are first and the link to the photobucket album is at the bottom.

DO WANT.....

***Apparently there was an issue with the pics...hope this fixes it. ***

So, uhh... all your pictures... and all the pictures in the gallery you link to are thumb nails?

None seem to show the whole car... but it looks like another concept car with too many bulges and angles?

This is how they copied from his album. If you click on them in Photobucket, they'll open to normal size.

A couple of the first few are medium size.... The rest are thumbnails.I dunno.. still haven't seen the while car, but looks like expensive over stylized concept.

It's really, really overboard. The basic idea is nice, but it's just too much for my taste.

So, the essence of Infiniti is a shiny catfish...uhh...neat?

Looks a lot like some of Mazda's recent concept cars.

This car does not appeal to me. Front end reminds me of the RX-8, the profile of the car reminds me of an Aston Martin, the rear end is just a puke inducing distortion. Can't find anything that I like about this car.

Looks like something Hot Wheels would have in it's collection.

I'd rather have rear view mirrors then some screen on the windshield though...

It's very eccentric.

I love it.

I know its just in concept form...but its just awesome.

It will need some tweaking if it becomes a production car (which more than likely it won't haha).

Love the look, i just hate the fact that technology has computers driving cars nowadays instead of people. Its already bad enough people cant drive now they wont have a clue.
