Okay so I have about the crank, soon I'm either gonna buy a CA18 and reuild, or rebuild my Ka I was wondering rather than have the shop re do it, should I buy a remanufactured one from auto zone? Any experiences on those?

I can't seem to find an aftermarket fuel level gauge with that ohm range anywhere. Any ideas. I have autometer pro-comp gauges so nothing that would look too silly. This is what I have....

thanks, speckid

i'm trying to put together a fun car to take to the track, i've ben driving and messing around it cars for awhile but finally building up my own. i have a completely stock 98 240sx automatic (yes i know slap in the face of the driving gods) but what would entail swapping it from automatic to manual and swapping the the KA to an RB20det, or would a 1jz be better?

Auto to manual isn't bad, but any swap other than an SR20 is going to require you do a LOT of reading and research.

A remanufactured crank?! Usually the crank doesn't need much work to it at all. Just stick with what you have.

Okay either onwle I choosei figured it'd be worn out, deciding factor is money, if i get enough to buy the CA18 and rebuild it ill go with that. If not rebuild the and boost it as I still have most of what I need to do so

this question is more about the forum than anything but ive noticed in certian threads there are pics that go off the side off the page, and are hidden by the SEARCH banner to the right. sometimes this causes a picture to be hard to look at.

IE: in the wheel fitment thread i can barely see the car/wheel bc the pic is so big.

If pictures were uploaded before our forum software switch (and they are way oversized), it does that. Are the threads you're looking at old?

possibly? lol. im not sure when the software switch happened. the Fitment Database under the tires, brakes suspension section started in 07' so its possible that was before the change over. i just thought mayb i had some sort of setting messed up in my user options because on other forums its fine.

but if its just an oversized pic ill have to open it in a new window or something no biggie

The front wheel bearings are going out on my car, since I have z32 brakes up front do I get some from a z32 or s14? My car is a s13 coupe, 5 lugs

You probably need to know where your spindles came from... I'm gonna say your best bet would be an S14, but I'm really not sure. Do they sell the wheel bearing as a spindle/bearing assembly, or is it just the bearing? If its just the bearing, it probably doesn't really matter where you get it from.

I have two problems again.
When I I give the gas more then 15% throttle the acceleration basically stops (kinda feels like the clutch is slipping) but if i go back under 15% it drive normal. I adjusted the iacv and it seemed to help just a little. My car isn't trowing any codes and the cel isn't on.

And my engine is making a grinding noise. It sound like a bad wheel bearing. I think it may be one of the pulleys because it seem like the sound is coming from the front and when I shut the engine of you can still hear it for maybe a second or 2 until the rpms go to zero. I'm thinking it may be the crank pulley, so would there be any way to trouble shoot it?

Sounds like it could be the timing chain, tensioner issue.perhaps its jumped a tooth. Dont run it. Id check the chain and cam timing asap.

Well my timing chain has zero play in it so i doubt it skiped a tooth and I think my engine was rebuilt and the timing chain because it looks new.
I also took some pics

Well that guide should be removed. and you want to spin the motor to TDC on compression stroke to check cam timing and chain slack. (clockwise only)

But if your crank pulley is an issue replace it with OEM and do the front seal while your at it.

I'm looking to buy a hatch for a daily/drifting machine. What type of things should I look for (No rust, straight frame etc.) If there is already a thread about this that I couldn't find someone point me in the right direction?

Maybe one of your pulleys is going bad? Try doing it and seeing if any of your pulleys are way hotter than the other ones.

Yeah, if that's when its spinning/making the noise. See if you can do it while someone else listens. Maybe one of your belts is just loose?

this is going to seem like a very stupid question and i apologize, but belts? i know the main belt but past that i am at a loss, and this whole thing started happening when i let my friend drive my car and he hit a curb so it's possible that that might be the case
