Agreed to a certain extent. When a politician gets trivia wrong (like pointing to the wrong John Wayne), my eyes roll. When they double-down on the error (like trying to rewrite the history of Paul Revere's ride), my head shakes, and I might criticize.

But when they lie about the issues in order to scare ignorant people into a panicked frenzy at the polling places (death panels? Public school abortion clinics? Obama re-education camps?), my blood boils, and I'm likely to call for their heads.

Make no mistake: I loathe Bachmann and Palin for the irresponsible, divisive lies. The gaffes are just gravy.

Oh, I don't think they're uninformed about the issues. I think they're just banking on their constituents being uninformed on the issues.

Gov. Christie knows full well what "teacher tenure" really means. But he's betting that the people he's talking to don't.

I think it's fair to say that conservative women like Palin and Bachmann, will not be cut any slack in the current media environment and blogosphere. This was evident during Michelle’s interview with the George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America. So they need to be at the top of their game if they are going to run out in front (aka run for President).

Unfortunately, criticism of her will be dismissed as "misogyny", since the Left characterized criticism of BHO as "racism".

Seems since the Clinton Administration, politics has devolved into an episode of Jersey Shore. Ignorance and idiocy reigns.

Not that all criticism of these women are a result of misogyny. I think that IBCoupe did a good job pointing out credible problems with policy statements that Michelle Bachmann has made. Fair enough… But when you start talking about if Sarah Palin contributed to her child’s down syndrome by giving as speech while in labor as some pundits claimed during the last Presidential election or the comments like that of Bill Maher, well I can’t help but wonder if there is a certain level of misogyny in regards to conservative women in our society today. Hell, it may just boil down the fact that it is the easiest thing to attack, instead of framing the discussions about their views on this policy or that policy.

Did you read the entire thread or even the post? Or did you just do what most pundits do and search for something I said about Obama, twist and extrapolate it for your own meaning ?
The first link (post) comes up so I can comment on it. If you read the entire thread and put it into context, I was trying to make light of a petty situation during the campaign by making light each major candidate and their gaffes. I think my comments capture my feeling adequately to show how petty the situation had become. No one blames a sleep deprived Presdiental candidate Obama from making the mistake of saying that he visited all 57 states in this country.
Beating up Obama for his comments would take form of saying, “ZOMG doesn’t this idiot know that this country only has 50 states and not 57. I really have to question his loyalty to country or if he is even a citizen.. blah, blah, blah.” What I did say was witty and equally ribbed each candidate for each of their gaffes. There is a difference.
But I really have to question the purpose of you digging up some of my old post to prove what point? That you are somehow but hurt over something I said? We can’t have a discussion or even a disagreement without your feelings getting hurt? I will save you sometime on your next set of searches. I have not said anything about President Obama’s gaffe on SFC Jared Monti. I have called President Clinton and Gen. Wesley Clark war criminals for what they did in Kosovo and Serbia. I said some very unflattering things about Sen. John McCain when he defended Georgia when they STARTED A WAR with Russia and he opened his big fat mouth like he did in Libya in saying “We are all Georgians in this country.” I have advocated the use of Nuclear Weapons in Turkey for their invasion of Iraq in 2004-2005 ish? Not because of the invasion but because of their unrepentant attitude toward the Armenian Genocide. Yes it was Genocide, call it that and stop throw people in jail for calling it that.
I cant get the other link to come up at work, so I will have to look at when I go home. I cant garner any context from just your little quote.

And obviously my comments will negate me from running for Public Office which is fine. Unless I want to run for public office in Russia, Aghanistan or Syria, then I 'talk the talk' <- this is a joke.

And so his name does not go un-noticed with this crowd. The Medal of Honor recipient that President Obama was referring to while at Fort Drum was Staff Sergeant Salvatore A. Giunta of 2-503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment (173rd Airborne Brigade).

Image
He is the first living Medal of Honor recipient since the Vietnam War.

The President confused him with SFC Jared Monti of the 10th Mountain Division.

Palin and Bachmann's short comings are not necessarily sex related, or conservative/liberal related. It's that they are simply terrible thinking on their feet. Their weaknesses are live interviews, where their naiivity of the issues and lack of polish is on full display. Katir Courics interview with Palin sealed her fate in the last election.
They both look good in front of a camera and when reading prepared speeches (written by someone else), but confronted in an interview, they're both come off as messes.

Except that in Bachmann's case she even does it in prepared speeches, as demonstrated with her Concord and Lexington flub being delivered twice in New Hampshire in prepared speeches. It had nothing to do with being unable to handle a live interview.

No question the politician was irresponsible and downright stupid for pointing a loaded gun (which had no safety) at the reporter.

She claimed that there was no bullet in the chamber, and her finger was not on the trigger ... but this is how accidents happen. :tisk:

I was 10 years old when I received my gun training from my Dad when he gave me a Daisy air rifle, and he made me swear a solemn oath that I would never, ever point a gun at any living creature (let alone a human being) that I did not intend to kill. Regardless of whether I thought anything was unloaded! Or in jest, or whatever.

I have never forgotten that oath.

Not pointing a gun at any bystander is gun safety 101. IMHO that idiot should have had her carry permit revoked. She's too stupid to be allowed to carry one.

I am not a fan of Bachmann, but I know stupid when I see it and she is NOT stupid.

Contrarily, part of me is convinced that she made this "gaffe" on purpose just to get new airtime. When you're already this controversial, any coverage is good coverage and she knows that. I'd imagine that a great deal of her "edgier" statements are made just to get her face on the tube. She be trollin'!

Honestly, it's brilliant. POTUS does it all the time, as do most competent politicians. Clinton did stuff like this constantly, being "unsophisticated" in some way that got news coverage but came across as lovable to his base.

It is extremely dangerous to assume people that have come this far in life are stupid, especially if you don't like them. She has a formidable education and has done real things, and while she comes across as a nut, I'm pretty sure she's at least a partially manufactured nut for the benefit of a nutty constituency.

A quick skim of the article (I'm in class, so I can't devote much else) suggests that it's only what triggered the article. The article doesn't talk about John Wayne Gacy for very long.

It (defaulting on our Debt) sure as s*** doesn't mean that Armageddon will ensue on August 2. I kind of half think that people are griping, over the potential of the National Debt Ceiling being raised and the ensuing default, because they want the Status Quo to continue. They want the Power and the Place of a Big Federal Leviathan to control our lives and provide for everyone's whim. Whether you are a Neo-Con who wants American exceptional-ism to project (through the barrel of a tank) 'democracy' all over the world and thus need 'Empire Building', or Progressives that want to reform behaviors of the citizens of this country into a model that fits their ideology.
