First let me say that I don't care what mounts you use or if you use the RB X-member. That decisions is yours and yours alone.

Their has been alot of debate recently, so I figured I would post a few pics of what the RB25DET instal looks like in an S13 (mine is a 92 SE) using Mckinney mounts.

Hopefully this info will help people decide what they want to use.

I had the car on jacks waiting for my VLSD axle, so I figured now was a good time to take the pics.

Here is the Driverside mount installed.

I also posted the full size pics in the members ride section. Enjoy.

Rember, buy whatever the hell you want or don't.

For me, the mckinney mounts/driveshaft and wiring was well worth the $$, and I installed it all in one weekend by myself with 4 jackstands and an engine hoist.

Ok, maybe I'm stupid, but... could you give me some orientation for those pics? I can't tell which way is up or down or right or left.

Btw, that shifter position does look stock. I am impressed. First pic I have seen of a shifter that doesn't look like it's 0.5-1.0" forward.

Also, I see no exhaust hanger on the transmission mount. Is there one that I can't see, or do the McKinney mounts not have that?

[EDIT] Ok, I see the oilpan in the first pic. Those first 2 are from the bottom, aren't they? And the mount must have a flat piece of metal that goes over the x-member where the original mount sat that is not shown in the pics, right?

I was laying under the car with my head/camera towards the front bumper. So the pics are from the front of the car angled back. What you are seeing is the mount on attached to the 240 crossmember (it bolts into the crossmember where the original mounts went) You then drill on hole in the crossmember and attach the bolt you see.Look at the pics in the members ride section. It is hard to tell what is what in these little pics.

No exhaust hanger on the mount, but there wasn't one on the stock transmission mount either that I remeber? hmmm.

True, but that McKinney setup includes the mount and the x-member, neither of which appear to have a hanger.

However, I'm not sure this is a problem. On my car, the hanger appears to exert a lot of force on the exhaust, which may be worse than having no hanger at all.

I don't have anything supporting down pipe, and didn't see any type of connector on the pipe for one? Looking at a pic of the stock exhaust next to my N1 Dual, I don't see any hanger that mounts to the transmission brace on either one of them??

I will look this weekend to see if I can tell what you are you talking about.

My VLSD replacement axle, and a pair of S15 seats are going in this weekend, so I will be under the car again :)

THE PART THAT MOUNTS TO THE TRANSMISSION IS THE COLLECTOR PIPE ON THE KA24 OR THE SR20DET DOWNPIPE.

Ok, I get it now. When I yanked the KA out, I never disconnected the transmission from the motor, so I never even noticed that the KA's header connected to the transmission.

We are going to make one for Hybrids car over the long holiday (DP FP hanger) due to his front pipe has started to droop... and his car is really really low in the first place.

That is cool Mack, I like the way you added the extra bolt bracket on the front of the X-member instead of that piece the other mounts tend to use as a rest for their mount extentions. I was thinking of using the same method when I try to make my mounts for my car. With the tightly sprung FLT-A2's on the car, I would like to know my mounts are secure with that much of a load above them.

on most car you do not need to do it except for making sure it not going to make noise about 3/16 to 1/2 is all that needed but we usually do it a inch to unsure that there is enough room so there is no rubbing....

The up-grade is to the rubber isolatior for the engine and trans not the metal parts. WE are trying to act on customer inputs that they want a firmer better looking materal, and there was nothing wrong with the rubber, just a power coating is comesitc over paint
