Personally, I think the manipulation of data is worse.
I don't think that the "luring people into a trap" routine that the conservatives do is bad, per se. It's essentially a debate tactic, and it's an effective one. I'm not accusing them of any wrongdoing.

It's very effective to have these people out there, stirring up trouble, drawing liberals into arguments they can't rationally win, and generally firing up the base. The left has yet to figure out how to do this.

Both sides manipulate data all day long. Neither is any more objective than the other and anyone who claims otherwise is deluding themselves.
