It is cheaper because that is what we know. Let the guy try what he wants then come back with proven test results. Then only two options

1. He succeeds and he will be a hero for having something different and probably nice looking

2. He fails and has to take everything apart and redo with factory parts

3. He fails and kills the motor and his car.

Like the lotto............. Hey ya never know.

I started tearing into the car last night. I got the TB off at about 11pm. Started messing with it at 9am this morning. I went to Advanced Auto parts to get supplies.

Here's a list of what I have gotten so far:

Rubber Hoses, Vacuum and fuel line. I have to get coolant lines later.

3/16in 5ft

1/4in 3ft

3/8in 3ft

1/2in 3ft

The total came to $18.52

So far, I have $281.58 more than you guys that went with OEM.

I will update you later on my progress.

Its not a competition, but good luck. It'll be awesome if it works out.

I am glad that this guy is doing this. Now we will have documented results that others can check up on in the future. Whether it is successful or not it will have an impact on others.

I will be your guys' guinea pig. All you have to do is feed me well.

I will take pics when I get the Plenum off. Then, I will take pics when I am done with my art work.

LOL Wes, giving away freebies. And I thought *I* was cheap!

If this hose setup lasts 6,000 miles (and I am not encouraging you) I will order a pizza of your choice, delivered to your doorstep. Otherwise you owe me a Guiness at the next NICO meet.

I finally got the plenum off. The first thing that I noticed is how poorly the whole system is engineered.

I'm starting to think more and more about the whole thing. I could change the design of a few things. With my pricision tool, the Hammer. JK. But seriously, I'm thinking about changing the way that the tubes connected to the Upper Plenum run. And any where else that I can find, I will straighten out some of the hoses.

I'll take that pizza when I'm done.

What do you mean "Guiness"?

Keep an eye on time too. I think it's fair we deduct something from that $281 for every hour you spend trying that would not be spent with a factory part. I assume you make at least the federal minimum wage of $5.15/hour. We can talk about longevity and effectiveness in 2011.Guinness is a beer.

you would be wrong with that assumption. I'm going to college. So, I am focusing more on school. Meaning I don't have a job. I work on the Q in my spare time.

I only work on the car for about 2 hours a day. Unless you want to consider the time I just think about working on the Q. Then it would be about 10 hours a day. Seriously though, I spend maybe 3 hours a day working on it and running to get parts.
