Ok well as some of you may know i crashed my car during an inclemate weather outing i had about a month ago. I was very upset needless to say and was very serious about getting rid of the car and calling this car thing quits for a while. Well that didnt last long. I found a new coupe shell for super cheap and the CA will live again. It will take quite sometime for me to transfer over the parts ecspecially wiring all my guages, boost conroller, Digital climate control, Turbo timer, etc... Then comes all the mechanical swapping. I cant wait to get all my parts crossed over from my old shell:

to my new one:

Don't worry it looks a little rough in that picture but the rails and shock towers are supper clean. I will be crossing over most of my straight panels as well, getting the body totally straight, and then getting it repainted. The CA Bug has planted a never dying seed in me! LONG LIVE THE CA POWA

amen brotha! lol.

Sorry bout your losses, but hopefully it opens up some new doors for you. Your should step-up your game and go top mount t3/t4 or gt turbo. and a standalone. I need some competition besides Dee and Mean_Green_s13.

Hey now, I'm working on it! TMS's HKS turbo kit should be on my car as soon as I get the rest of the funds together.

Funny you should mention that. I think I found a sweet deal on a gt3071rs from a friend at school. Im just not sure if that turbo would give me any usable power??? It's a real garret turbo too! That and maybe a haltech, 2.0 block, hmmm. I have a little something in mind. But seriously would that turbo be any good as a bolt on? New injectors are obviously in order but ya... And good?

It would be a pretty solid match for the CA I think. Ive seen SR's make a lot of power on that turbo, and if an SR can spool it so can you.

Very interesting. So you think if i throw some 550's on there and reflash my ecu i would have a decent set-up until i finish building my "real" motor?

get on streetfire.net and type in beemens. although hes sr20 he has a gt3076r(my turbo) which is bigger then the gt3071r and slows up slightly later. He hits full boost around 4300rpm or so. My guess, a ca18 with the smaller 3071r would spool about the same. I would say full boost no later than 4500rpm. Also dont forget that your start making positive boost way sooner . and transient response with the gt30-35r turbo is phenomenal. Between shifts there is almost no lag at all.

If your going to go 3071r I would say stick around 14-16psi with those 550s and get it tuned correctly. You ought to see around 325-350whp, until you get a standalone. Also please check out the twin scroll 3071r's they are insane with the proper mani.

Those 550s are going to be totally inadequate for real power with that turbo. If you are going to have to buy injectors you might as well go for some 780cc deals or something.

I believe Mobne on sxoc ran a GT30xx on his ca18 before switching to the current 497hp GT35R. A few videos on youtube featuring the GT30 in action

I just got a 89 coupe with a CA already installed. Im having a little trouble with it though. whoever did the swap sucks at it.it has an automatic transmission, sooo i need to do a manual swap.all my friends say CAs suck/are slow. but it seems to me that they are tough little motors that can make some decent power.either way i already love CAs!

Looks like if you scraped off enough primer you'd have a pretty decent red coupe!

Ya the shell really isn't that bad for $450. And it's a 5speed and still drives. The rims are 15x7 BBS wheels that weight about 9-10lbs each and are super stronge. I've put them, to the test a few times. I paid $300 and a set of stock saw blades for them.

I know the paint under the pin stripping was mint when i pulled it off. Doesn't seem like there was much bondo on the car either.

Red X = fail.

Dude, my car has a crease on the rear 1/4 panel in exactly the same place. Your paint is better though, haha.

IDK yet... I always have a problem with painting the car anything other than the color it came but i HATE red so thats not going to happen. I was thinking maybe two tone white/gold??? Kinda like... a new coupe with a small tribute to it's fallen brother.

Maybe stick with the champagne/ gold. That way you could save some money, by reusing the doors, fenders, front bumper, hood, from you crashed car.

If not, black or white is always classy

I do want to go pignose this time around definitely. Seeing as this car is a 90 IDK where the previous owner went wrong and got a sharky bumper. As for the color we will see. I might wind up going gold but i was leaning towards white as well. We will see when the time comes.

Pignose FTW!!!

I've always wanted to do a nice dark metallic blue with black hood, roof, and hatch.

Also the gold would probably look good.

Good luck and keep up the good work. Hows your transplant going?

ya.. The motor swap isnt going to get started for a while unfortunitely. I have so many labs, plus class time, plus 30 hours of real work. I may have to wait till winter break for the motor to go in. Gives me time to save for a turbo and injectors.

My CA front clip was a white/gold silvia. It was so freaking hot, it was nuts. Too bad I only got half of it. White with a gold on the bottom or I kill you.
