Imo, it tastes better than the watered down garbage that is Bud Light.

Still pretty bad nonetheless though.

:bs: i respectfully disagree. vodka is the only alcohol that doesn't make me gag. i can't stand whiskey or bourbon and tequila just turns my stomach. of course the "best" tequila I've had thus far is patron. i may give the better stuff a try someday.

The internetz say that congeners are the cause of hangovers (outside of dehydration).

That said, I picked up some azeotrope stage alcohol last night. Good times :)

I'm not a big vodka drinker, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy it.

I've started to like good tequila of late, but I still don't drink it very often. I'm mostly a rum and whiskey guy.

Lately I've been enjoying Goslings "Old Rum", which is pretty spectacular product. For something lighter, I like 10 Cane.

I love good vodka and there is a difference between them. I have come to the conclusion that keystone's are just dented coors cans. Every single keystone can has a dent on it.

What exactly is brandy? I've heard it compared to sherry. The only sherry I've ever had was at The Gardens of Taxco in West Hollywood. They give you a small glass to go with the bananas in sweet cream dessert. F-ing amazing. It reminds me up a beefed up port.

Brandy is distilled wine, just like Whisky is essentially distilled beer.

I mostly a Scotch drinker when it comes to the good stuff. Eventually I would like to dabble in bourbon, rum and tequila, but I feel like I've just scratched the surface on Scotch so far.

I like Maker's Mark every once in a while.

I love rum but noticed that I used to really like clear rums but now only like brown and dark rums, IDK why.

I like Gin Ricky's From Cheesecake Factory, but they are like $10 a glass.
Empty V wrote:This makes sense but I'm sure it's much more complicated then that. I absolutely do not know the science behind it but I think you have to first consider what's initially going into your system and determine how it's metabolized. I bet your metabolism has slowed as you've gotten older which has probably affected your ability to handle alcohol. Has your alcohol consumption rate slowed since your tolerance has dropped?
I am a non drinker compared to 5 years ago. So yeah I have slowed my drinking considerably since then.

I am a firm believer of quality Alcohol. The cheap stuff does weird stuff to me.

Example: a can of Guinness goes down well. A Mickeys grenade (dont ask me why i drank one recently) gave me a headache before I finished the damn thing.

a night of drinking Stevewisers (its an inside joke) makes my arms break out in some odd minor rash and gives me a stinging hangover the next morning. A night of drinking Bellhaven and Smithwicks at a pub results in a fine buzz and little to no hangover the next day.

For me it's all about who I'm with and what the mood is. If I'm with my whiskey buddies we drink whiskey but if I take them down to Baja we drink Tequila. If I'm at a bar/restaurant sometimes I'll move to vodka. You can drink one type of alcohol your entire life and still have room to learn so it can't hurt to spread out a little. I don't claim to be an expert on any of them. I just know from what I've had the opportunity to try, which ones appeal to me. If you want to get started on tequila you can get Corzo Anejo at Costco for a great price.

Damn there is lots of vodka hate in here. I may like the others more if i had some high quality examples, but when i compared bottom shelf vodka to bottom shelf tequila/rum/whiskey etc. it definitely took the cake. Now i don't really drink anything else i try to get a different vodka every time i go so i can find something exceptionally good one day. I was fairly unimpressed with the taste of Ciroc for the ridiculous price difference, ill have to give hangar 10 a try. I take shots though i don't sip it or mix it so i only taste it for a second, thats why i dont mind so much if its not top shelf every time.

You're still posting in this thread? I would have thought after getting spanked you would have run away.

A bottle of Ciroc goes for about $30 at BevMo. It's distilled from grapes so it definitely has a different flavor then most other vodkas. also I don't shoot vodka so my experiences are probably different from yours. Hangar 1 has a very different flavor as well. It's one of the few that's distilled by hand opposed to a machine controlled process. Plus when they do the flavors one they use whole fruits opposed to fruit "essence" A.K.A. flavoring. When you turn a bottle over you see particulate of the fruit floating around. I'm a huge fan of the kafir lime and most people nut over the mandarin. Even if you're taking shots, a better vodka will definitely make for a better night and next day.

Did I miss a page or something? All I saw was that you can't read:

First of all I never called it science and said that this is what I have experienced with low and high sugared alcohols. I also stated that if anyone knows better then please explain. With that said sugars (carbohydrates) directly affect glycogen level. Glycogen on Wikipedia If you don't agree with my babbling then show some facts opposed to a "table" that has little to no information supporting your information.
I guess the rest of the paper was above your reading level then, yeah? The link beautifully sums up hangovers and other alcohol related illnesses. Not once is sugar content mentioned as an issue.

And I said Fiznat called it science. But I can see how you were confused.

Again, my link DOES know better, so feel knowledge'd.
Again, the link to science slapping you around: http://pubs.niaaa.nih.gov/publications/ ... /54-60.pdf

Had you read anything other than the table I referenced, you would see plenty of "information supporting my (sic) information."

oddly enough we have remotely similar tastes.I drink my with just a hint of water to release aroma's and some locked away flavor

Normally i drink 10 year old stuff but I've got a few bottles of 18 laid away in the basement for occasions. If i had the money I'd try and get some 1939 macallan but i doubt I'll ever be able to afford it.
