Vodka sucks. Hard.
Careful who you disagree with. That is resident expert on sucking hard.LunarShroud wrote:ADDirishboy wrote:Vodka sucks. Hard.i respectfully disagree

I am a non drinker compared to 5 years ago. So yeah I have slowed my drinking considerably since then.Empty V wrote:This makes sense but I'm sure it's much more complicated then that. I absolutely do not know the science behind it but I think you have to first consider what's initially going into your system and determine how it's metabolized. I bet your metabolism has slowed as you've gotten older which has probably affected your ability to handle alcohol. Has your alcohol consumption rate slowed since your tolerance has dropped?
For me it's all about who I'm with and what the mood is. If I'm with my whiskey buddies we drink whiskey but if I take them down to Baja we drink Tequila. If I'm at a bar/restaurant sometimes I'll move to vodka. You can drink one type of alcohol your entire life and still have room to learn so it can't hurt to spread out a little. I don't claim to be an expert on any of them. I just know from what I've had the opportunity to try, which ones appeal to me. If you want to get started on tequila you can get Corzo Anejo at Costco for a great price. The Count wrote:Brandy is distilled wine, just like Whisky is essentially distilled beer.
I mostly a Scotch drinker when it comes to the good stuff. Eventually I would like to dabble in bourbon, rum and tequila, but I feel like I've just scratched the surface on Scotch so far.
Mmm... Islay scotch. You sir, have excellent taste. There is a bottle of that occupying the "drink regularly" place of honor in my house.themadscientist wrote:The madman's drink of choice.
You're still posting in this thread? I would have thought after getting spanked you would have run away.charlieo wrote:Mmm... Islay scotch. You sir, have excellent taste. There is a bottle of that occupying the "drink regularly" place of honor in my house.
A bottle of Ciroc goes for about $30 at BevMo. It's distilled from grapes so it definitely has a different flavor then most other vodkas. also I don't shoot vodka so my experiences are probably different from yours. Hangar 1 has a very different flavor as well. It's one of the few that's distilled by hand opposed to a machine controlled process. Plus when they do the flavors one they use whole fruits opposed to fruit "essence" A.K.A. flavoring. When you turn a bottle over you see particulate of the fruit floating around. I'm a huge fan of the kafir lime and most people nut over the mandarin. Even if you're taking shots, a better vodka will definitely make for a better night and next day.TroubleBound wrote:Damn there is lots of vodka hate in here. I may like the others more if i had some high quality examples, but when i compared bottom shelf vodka to bottom shelf tequila/rum/whiskey etc. it definitely took the cake. Now i don't really drink anything else i try to get a different vodka every time i go so i can find something exceptionally good one day. I was fairly unimpressed with the taste of Ciroc for the ridiculous price difference, ill have to give hangar 10 a try. I take shots though i don't sip it or mix it so i only taste it for a second, thats why i dont mind so much if its not top shelf every time.
Did I miss a page or something? All I saw was that you can't read:Empty V wrote:You're still posting in this thread? Again, the link to science slapping you around: http://pubs.niaaa.nih.gov/publications/ ... /54-60.pdfcharlieo wrote:I guess the rest of the paper was above your reading level then, yeah? The link beautifully sums up hangovers and other alcohol related illnesses. Not once is sugar content mentioned as an issue.Empty V wrote:
First of all I never called it science and said that this is what I have experienced with low and high sugared alcohols. I also stated that if anyone knows better then please explain. With that said sugars (carbohydrates) directly affect glycogen level. Glycogen on Wikipedia If you don't agree with my babbling then show some facts opposed to a "table" that has little to no information supporting your information.
And I said Fiznat called it science. But I can see how you were confused.
Again, my link DOES know better, so feel knowledge'd.
oddly enough we have remotely similar tastes.I drink my with just a hint of water to release aroma's and some locked away flavorthemadscientist wrote:The madman's drink of choice.
