No, not really. :spitout:

I don't know whether to laugh at how silly it is or cry, again, at how silly it is.

http://blog.caranddriver.com/texas-plum ... errorists/
Mark-1 Plumbing in Texas City is getting a lot of frantic calls lately. It’s got nothing to do with plugged drains or leaks—and everything to do with Syrian terrorists, social media, and a castoff Ford F-250 bearing the small business’s name.
Image
But the internet is full of hair-trigger conspiracy theorists ready to pounce, and so Oberholtzer and the rest of the folks at Mark-1 have had to deal with death threats from mouth-breathers convinced that this plumbing shop is tied in to the global terrorlst network. The company tells CBS News they’ve employed an attorney to attempt to remove the truck’s image from Twitter.
Oh, for ****'s sake, people!

Well here's my first thought:

Why the fu*k wouldn't you remove your phone number and business name before trading something in? That's just fu*king stupid and unprofessional.
Have some business class, you buncha Texas retards.

All the junkyards and trade-in re-sellers around here have to remove all that crap before something goes on the lot to be pulled apart or gets sold...

I guess they thought that little rule didn't apply because it was going out of the country? Oh well, here comes that defamation/pain & suffering lawsuit!

Eh, I don't know. Most vehicles that go to surplus or auction are still wrapped / stickered. If I'm a small business owner (oh wait, I am), I'm not putting five valuable minutes into an asset that's already been "exhausted." That's just business.

My bigger question is how in the hell are those goat-humping inbred cretins getting vehicles from the US - that CAN'T be an effective use of their "Terrorism Fund."

Only government/police cars typically remove their livery for liability reasons.

A private vehicle can have stickers all over that say "c***-mobile"

It is not a hard rule, typically.

I sold an FJ Cruiser to someone in the middle east. Keep an eye out for a blue one with "Pro Cycle" stickers.

Why would you bother removing it? The expectation is that the next owner will just paint over or remove it because they don't want to offer you free advertising or look like a plumber when they pick up their Tinder date.

The most important question we should ask is why they don't have a 'must be older than 25 years old' import rule. :chuckle:

Why would you remove it? Hmm LET ME THINK.

It's not like anyone can show a precedent for a vehicle being used in a fashion that gets it's previous owner in trouble... OH WAIT- :chuckle:
This sort of thing is exactly why I would remove my stickers had I was in that position.

And hoping that people won't be morons about it just isn't productive either. Have you seen the way the other 9/10s drives? I can only imagine that the lack of brains shown in their daily driving must have some lean on why they believe that some guy in Texas would support some militant group by shipping his vehicle all the way over to Syria.

If someone wants to use your vehicle for mischief, having "BOBS PLUMBING" on the side will only make it easier to catch them. There's every incentive for a criminal to paint over it.

The odds of the vehicle you unloaded or traded on Craigslist ending up in the hands of ISIS are very, very low.

If not there will be a ton of confused people that just bought a used Miata, follow the web address on the sticker and then wonder why they're on a Nissan oriented site. ;)

So Akmed, what's the story with the truck?

"Oh, that is Mark's truck. We get very good price. Ford tough, ha ha, Allah be praised. The powerstroke diesel is powerful and good on fuel which is important as we lose oil fields"

Do you know Mark?

"Oh yes yes. He is an infidel and we should cut off his head, but he just got finished installing a steam shower in my hovel and it is a dream. We gave him some literature and hope we can convert him because we are hoping to get a new water heater as well."

So you're ignoring the other side of the problem entirely why exactly? Because people should just be smart?

People will be stupid no matter what you do and just taking the time to cover your own a$$ keeps yourself out of any issues like this great, glaring example.

If someone wanted to use your vehicle for domestic criminal activity, like a bank robbery or kidnapping, the last thing they'd want is a distinguishing mark on their vehicle.

Secondly, the odds of having a vehicle shipped overseas AND used specifically by Hamas or Isis are very, very low. I don't go through life wondering if the things I own will end up in the hands of ISIS. Your outlook on the world is frighteningly paranoid.

^ :chuckle: Another unfortunate casualty might be the producers of the FX tv show Archer. Their CIA like operation was also named ISIS. For Archer fans, the next season begins next month.... LANAAAAA!

With a trip to Taco Bell, a gas grill starter and some sort of gastrointestinal straight pipe you could rig up a flamethrower!

I've got this image of MacGyver rigging something up and then yelling at Al Bundy, "Keep eating, it's working!

Honestly, there's no such thing as bad publicity, Dave. Not sure what you don't see about that. This blew his phone line up, I'm sure of it. And since he isn't "in cahoots," everyone still has his number for when a drain is clogged. This is a good thing for him.

Were I within his area I would throw him some business because some mouthbreather was threatening him. Balance restored.

People who are going to whack someone don't generally make death threats.

Death threats typically come from impotent old men and teenagers who are pissed that they're failing English Lit.

Profiling 101.

Mark is fine.

The odds of this happening to anyone are darn near zero which is why it became a national headline. If it was routinely an issue, you'd never hear about it.

Let reality guide your choices, not your fears.
