Many of us are on the side of the EPA and feel that a clean environment is a better environment.IP37 wrote:

I’m just an old PITA who thinks that the laws against illegal mods, like very dark tints, smoked lighting, no front plate where required, and in this case removing a catalytic converter, have a purpose in serving the public good. I also believe it’s not a matter of simply getting pulled over or not, as many of these threads seem to focus on, but how we view or attitudes toward obeying the law in general. If this sort of thing bothers you, just put me on your ignore list.IP37 wrote:

Sorry, I didn't mean to attack you, but your comment;CYO44Baseball32 wrote:Was just wondering about sound of test pipes and I got attacked come on guys, if no one has test pipes or ideas about how they sound thats fine, just don't bash me for wondering
made it sound like you were going to do something unscruplous. Glad you are planning on staying legal.CYO44Baseball32 wrote:I was looking for ones with a deeper sound.
Don’t get sucked in. His car is already illegal. And his comment “No emissions test in FL so i'll be ok. “ should indicate that he was planning to do it.rn79870 wrote:made it sound like you were going to do something unscruplous. Glad you are planning on staying legal.

I think there is probably some california lingo where illegal = sweet (except for the brake pads, but they are growing on me). I think that is where the confusion is. I think Magellan is actually giving you a compliment.CYO44Baseball32 wrote:

Federal and perhaps Florida law dictate the minimum distances for light emission for front, rear and 3rd brake smoked lights. If yours have been tested as legal then I am wrong and will apologize. If not, my statement stands.CYO44Baseball32 wrote:

You are very wrong all of my lights have been tested and are very visible at 1000ft during the daytime thank you.Magellan wrote:Federal and perhaps Florida law dictate the minimum distances for light emission for front, rear and 3rd brake smoked lights. I’ll take your word for it. So I was wrong and apologize for saying your car is illegal.CYO44Baseball32 wrote:

No one is afraid of, nor is it about, getting caught. We're afraid of not doing our part in helping keep the environment green. We're afraid of not leaving the world a little better shape than it would be if everyone had your attitude.hyekid10 wrote:well i am new around this site and community .. and thru out this whole discussion.. people have disagreed with "test pipes" and everyone was afraid of getting caught and how its illegal. well honestly.. if u love cars.. and hookin up cars.. and nething about doing that.. ur probably gunna break the law eventually.. and speaking for this whole nation.. there is a law for everything.. u cant even look at someone with out lookin suspicious or having them make a big commotion.. so dude.. wanna try test pipes.. go to the nearest fabricator and get them done.. ne car can get test pipes..
people scared of the government..
Thanks for your great answer to that post. I was going to comment myself, but some members may be getting tired of hearing it from me.rn79870 wrote:

Your cavalier attitude about adhering to the law, and the legal requirements of car ownership will surely take you places in the future, although it will most likely be in handcuffs. I'd suggest you rethink your position before you learn the hard way.
I would never advise someone else to break the law and jeopardize their 37K car in the process. It's just irresponsible.
I see you are from CA too. I remember going to school here (in SoCal) with stage (#) smog alerts. I remember burning eyes and tight chests from breathing that brown stuff. I'll bet you do too.Magellan wrote:Thanks for your great answer to that post. I was going to comment myself, but some members may be getting tired of hearing it from me.
Well from this "Youngster" to an old fart, way to again miss the point of the thread and throw it off topic.Magellan wrote:Thanks for your great answer to that post. I was going to comment myself, but some members may be getting tired of hearing it from me.
But I must say that this member is only 19 years old, and I can’t help but think back when I was his age. In those days there were neither seat belt laws nor emission standards (there were no test pipes because there were no catalytic converters). There were no 3rd brake lights, no tint or smoked tail light laws and no air bags. You flashed your high beams from a small petal on the floor. On new cars you were lucky if the clock worked for more than two weeks. Turn signals were a dealer installed option. New cars had no telescoping steering columns, pop-out windshields, nor padded dashes. In a head-on collision you were dead. Child safety seats had not been invented. And yes, we killed ourselves at a much larger rate. This youngster doesn’t realize that due to these laws how much safer he is in his G35 over my Dad’s ’49 Chevy.
This is the second time in this thread that you’ve resorted to personal name calling directed at me. Perhaps that’s how you think these forums should work, but besides being against club rules, I would like to think you have something more meaningful to say.CYO44Baseball32 wrote:

Well you must have alzheimers then because YOU'RE the one who started the name calling. I wish you would have meaningful comments for this forum instead of bashing everything everyone says. As your momma always said "if you got nothing nice to say then don't say it."Magellan wrote:This is the second time in this thread that you’ve resorted to personal name calling directed at me.
