I had them put on and the car aligned last week at STi Motorsports in L.A., a shop I do lots of work for. Some of you may have seen it on Pimp my ride, they supply West Coast Customs with wheels, and work with them. I had them put on with the stock shocks which I know isn't the best thing to do, but until I have money for the shocks I'm getting, I didn't want to wait. So here's my review:

Looks: Awesome, drop looks like more than 2" though.

Ride: It's what to expect on stock 82k mile shocks, firmer, not the magic carpet it was, needs better re-bound control. For the most part however, the ride is still quite good. I'll have some SR Special shocks (KYB's but not sold in U.S.) on it in a few more months.

Overall: I'm glad they're on, it doesn't look like it's got more wheel clearance than a Jeep Cherokee any more! Now if I could just get tires to put on those 18x8 and 18x9's that have been on my office floor for 2 months  she's starting to come together really well.

Alignment specs: Front is 1.5 degrees negative and rear is almost 2 degrees, still within range. Caster and toe are perfect, car goes straight as a nail.

Here's a couple pics:

Sorry for the crappy pics, but I can't read Japanese yet and my wife brought her camera from there, so all I can do is point and shoot.

2" drop would result in my wife's splash guards being 1.5" off the ground in front. They are succumbing to the speed bumps in the real world anyway.

Nice looking car, but 2° negative? I bet the stock shocks are worn, or soon will be, as rebound control is the first to go. Keep us updated on the KYB and tire wear pattern.

I rode on 2 degrees negative camber for 4 years in my Si and just rotated tires every 6 months, never had any issues with severe tire wear, but I tend to get new ones every 2 years or so.

I'm positive the stock shocks are worn, they have 82 k miles on them now!! Ahh, the sacrifices I pay for my vanity lol. I'll keep every one posted on the new shocks when they go on.

Far as speed bumps, I don't have splash guards, and even with other people in the car it's been fine, just gotta go sloowwww ;)

Wow, at the ned of the day, I don't think I could live with that ride :(, but I'd want to though :D.

Is the ride height adjustable at all? Do you think new shocks will give you any additional height? Not to "pick on it", but do you think the new 18's will fix the tire/fender alignment in the rear?

(more pics and use the link in my sig to upload/post on NICO)

No, they have no height adjustment, but the new wheels when I test fit them, are much more "flush" with the fenders. These wheels need spacers to look right, but for now I just have to wait. The new shocks will definitely make the ride much better, and they will be on in a few short months. The ride is really not bad, I asked my wife how it felt and she couldn't tell the difference.

FY33 seats are softly sprung.

I hate going slow, but speed bumps and sleeping policemen (road pillows) force me to sometimes. I always stop before creeping over them. Even not so steep entries are a problem for the FY33.

Mr. Falk -

Looks great! Wheels and tires will definitely help now, and don't worry - we have a "vain Q owners" meeting every Thursday night at nine.

Beware the "VIP Tuner" groupies! :D

Ok, I will. Should I bring coffee to the vain Q owners meet? Lol!!

I was hesitant to post this here since I know some of the more conservative members might bash me a bit, but to each their own. I am going for an EXC / VIP look, so with the rims, it's gonna be really clean and I WILL have tires next month.

Those same owners who MIGHT do the bashing have wives or girlfriends who secretly envy the VIP look. :)

Keep up the good work, the car looks great.

p.s. Tires are coming from TireRack, right?

Hope my post was construed as being a "bash".

I like, just don't think I'd want "mine" (Y33 is on the list as a possible replacement) to sit quite as low, the final package (new shocks and the 18's) could have me back peddling.

Rex, I didn't think you or Max were bashing, I just know that from posts I've read on these forums, that some members can be conservative, and there's nothing wrong with that. Sorry man, didn't mean to imply you or anyone else

AZ, I get wholesale prices on tires locally.

Looks really good, but yes you do need some spacers. Probably 20mm in back and 15mm in front.

Looks very nice. That's what I always want. Are the Stech springs available for 94-95 Q though??

Or if I want to go more than 1" than Eibach on my 94Q , I have to go for Coilovers??

P.S. Cant want to see ur ride w/18"s and shocks

I'm not gonna bother with spacers since I'm gonna sell these wheels in about a month. But if I did keep them, that sounds like about what I'd get.

I would assume the S.Tech's are available, but not sure. I had to email them and ask about for the Y33 since they're not listed, and they replied that they do have them, but don't import them. I had a friend who is a Tein dealer S/O them for me, took about 2 months.

Eibachs are fine for the 94-96.

You don't want to go lower with 18's - See pics of mine in Member's Rides for the evidence. :)

I only found a few 94Q pics w/18"s and Eibach+Tokico, can I see a couple more so I can know how low it is with Eibach+Tokico?

I would love to get Eibach+Tokico coz I have hook up on that and I dont have to hassle to find coilovers or other kind of springs that are low the car more than Eibach. The only I am concerning is that I dont have the look I want.

Thank you very much

AE86, I see are a recent member, so let me recommend you read Q45tech's posts on suspension so you may understand the trade off in function vs. looks.

Depends if you are in for show or go.

Thanks maxnix I might be new to this forum but I am not new to cars. For this Q I will mainly go for show. I understand there are some problems comes with the car if I low too much I just want a few pics for reference so I know what I need.

I just purchase my Q 2 weeks ago and I dont have a lot of info about this car. I just think Eibach springs + Tokico shocks might not be enough for what I am looking for. So I have been checking posts but I am not able to find a lot pics of Q with Eibach/Tokico so I can compare what I should spend on.

Also about the rims, I am thinking about going for 18x8F/18x9R or going more extreme to 19x8F/19x9R will these bring me fender/tires problem and is there any other problems assoicate with it?? Pls let me know

Thank you very much for anyone's help

Oi! Quit hijacking Russel Crow's thread

Just kidding. I have 18x8 and 18x9's in my office, but you have a different generation car, so I'm not sure about your fittment.

All the trade offs are discussed in the previous posts, but most here go for function over kewl looks.

There is a VIP site out there, but they go real slow through parking lots. Most here tend to go fast on the highways. :D

That is w/Eibach+Tokico right? They look much more aggressive than the stock ones but it is just a little bit off from what I am looking for, I might want a half to 1" more drop so the gap will be close to a finger or none.

I think I have seen a pic of another pearl white Q that is like what I am looking for I have to find those pics and show.

"I drive real fookin' fast, so keep up." >Pulp Fiction

I really drive fast too, always have for my 20+ years driving, always will. I tend to cruise in the left with the flow which is about 80-85 most of the time. On a road trip, I stay around 90. I love the overdrive button, it's like the "push to pass" button on Champ Cars, going like 80, I tap the button, floor it, and pass another car instantly, then push it back and resume my high-speed cruising :)

That's the purpose for which the Q45 was built. Even the FY33 seems much faster in the highway pass than it's off the line sluggishness would suggest.

You're gonna get help on this sitre regardless, just keep in mind mechanical upkeep gets alot more "play" than cosmetic/appearance mods.

Were you looking for this pic?

It's all cool, that was a South Park refernce w/ Russel Crow up there.

That's OneTon's car I think, it does look sick to me, but I don't want my fenders getting mashed up. I'm going more to the EXC version of VIP style, a tad more conservative than an extreme VIP set-up.

It's fun to live in a city of hooked up Benz's, BMW's, Audi's, heck, I saw a seriously hooked up Bently last week, and drive one of the ONLY hooked (well, getting there ;) ) up Infiniti Q's on the road.

My front wheel gap is less than 2 fingers.

Any lower and you're on the bump stops... You'll have virtually NO suspension travel.

Also, you will have diffculty maintaining a sufficient tire size to maintain adequate load rating at that height.

If there were a better way, we'd have found it.

Of course, my car sees 100+ mph daily, and lots of hard cornering. No trailer queen here.
