At LEAST flip over to the Discovery Channel / TLC / History / etc and learn something while you're staring slack-jawed at the television...
History and Discovery are getting more and more disappointing as time goes on. Aside from super-special things like Planet Earth (which I actually keep meaning to order on bluray) and a few rarities like Overhaulin or Pawn Stars, most of both channels has degraded to horrible reality TV or sensationalism (Pawn Stars is reality but amazingly doesn't star complete d!ck so it's actually fun to watch).
If my TV's on, it's usually on one of those, though, or AMC. Nothing else is worth watching. Food network sucks now, too, so even it is rarely worth watching.
