The 28 HP was referring to factory spec'd crank HP.

If a DE is puting down 210, then we need to be looking for 45-60 hp to close the gap between it and the HR.

Stock HRs are putting down 255-270.

Sorry, John. Not trying to piss you off, just enjoying the debate.

Also, why are the DEs putting down such low RWHP stock? 210 out of a car that's rated for 280 to the crank is a 25% drivetrain loss. Even if we use the 260 figure (which I'm pretty sure Infiniti just faked to make the coupe seem more sporty), that's still almost 20% drivetrain loss.

I was showing a 9% loss with just a K&N drop-in (I really need to ditch that piece of s***) and a blox spacer. I know the lack of a slush box makes a difference, but damn...

Would like to know more detail on this since I have one in the coupe.

Took the one that I had in the Sedan out after the MPG went down.K&N told me that they only say that it will increase HP not MPG.....

I found gains in MPG in other past vehicles using K&N's.

I have been using K&Ns since Mt. St. Helens erupted to allow cleaning of the air filter when living far too close to the mountain. However I have read a couple of articles dealing with the filter, one of which was a study of a stock filter on a BMW. It was found that the K&N provided greater air flow when it was clean at a slight reduction in filtering capability. As it got dirtier it got better at filtering which stands to reason but had a reduction in air flow. The stock filter over its lifetime was better on average in both departments. One conclusion was that the stock filter actually had a greater media area. The study is a few years old now so maybe no longer pertains except in the concept.

I re-read my post and can see how it was hard to understand. My 9% loss was referring to drivetrain loss from factory crank HP to RWHP. Not that I actually loss 9% from the filter.

As for my reasoning for not liking their filters...I'll start a new thread and explain instead of taking this one off course.
