You might not have to take anything apart to inspect the pad thickness. The backing plates should have inspection holes in them. They are usually covered with a removable rubber plug.

When you get all finished, take some mental notes of the overall process just in case you decide to change your rear axles on the G someday or decide to take your rear rotors off for any given reason. Cause you're parking brakes are basically drum brakes as well, and sometimes, their disassembly is required to do other things to the rear suspension/drivetrain/brake assembly. There's also the possibility that you may need to actually change them, but you'd probably have to pick up drifting for them to wear down They also have a little hole with a rubber insert to look in and adjust the parking brake pads.

If you do try and look inside the drum to view the drum pads.....remember a flashlight

+1 on before pics and good luck!ah...also +1 on the beer!!!

Thanks guys! I would have never known we had drum parking brakes (until I replaced the rotors). I've been kind of fearful lately when I engage the parking brake because I thought it would warp my rotors (after spirited driving).

The Hemi Ram has the same set up I mic'ed mine when I had the rotors off and they were almost like new after 27k miles. The sedan doesn't have a hand brake though so it would be dumb if they were worn at all

Yup^^^ those be the one's Jeff ....and ya, it would take some pretty heavy driftin to wear them babies down. The parking brake pads would probably last the life of the car....as long as they weren't engaged for a long period of time while the car sat and then corroded/rusted themselves to the inside of the drum haha, but other than that...should be good to go!

So the stripper is worth what? an extra 8-12 psi of boost? oh... wait ... that would be a blower...
