i feel the same way!!! everytime i race my friend's SRT-4 and some other cars, ill be winning and then as soon as i hit around 115 or 120, i see them zoom past me. i heard that on the 02-06 Altima's that after 110 MPH the computer only allows the throttle to open 80%. you can have your foot all the way on the gas and it'll just be like having it 80% down. don't know if its true or not but thats what i heard

because when i race on the highway i'll be winning like hussain said and once u hit that mark i get owned and people say their cars are fast cause of this and that gets me mad (even Si"s come close or beat me on the highway )when i have 3.5 V6. dont get me wrong i'm not trying to go that much faster but just a lil more and i dont go over 100 alot at all

You shouldn't be racing on the highway at those speeds; it's just asking for trouble.

i stopped speeding after i got my second ticket a month ago. speeding is fun, but its not worth paying $319 plus the sky rising of my already high insurance rates. plus if you are an unexperienced driver you could kill somebody

Some people need a life-altering event before they understand.

i see what you guys are talking about but it's not that bad if you know your limits. for example, me and my friend with the SRT-4 race each other almost every time we hang out but when theres traffic we stop. i raced another guy with an SRT-4 i know and when we were going about 100 mph i was ahead of him but he was in the passing/on coming traffic lane (empty country road) and a car was coming and he did not want to slow down and get behind me and i saw this so i let off the gas and let him get in front of me. i'd NEVER do what he did. even my other friend was like what the hell is he doing? as soon as we see a car from a distance we stop and get over

Does anyone know what the speed rating is on our stock tires? I'm pretty sure they aren't Z rated, thus if H rated, they shouldn't be running much fater than 130... If V rated, then 149 is about the safest speed, thus there's a reason for the governor. Also, I just don't think the tires/suspension on the A/C is sure fotted enough to be racing above 100, especially on curves, the cornering with the stock setup is just awful.

Perhaps once they come out with lowering springs, and once you upgrade your wheel / tire package from the stock setup, perhaps that kind of driving will be safer with the governer removed, but right now... I def think you're asking for a bad ending!

trust me i know what speed can do i have been in like 2 wrecks none my fault and i came out ok expect i still have a little bit of back problems but they werent speed related so i could image if i would have been speeding. i'm not stupid with speed i know u can only control it to an extent, if i'm speeding its at night with no cars at all on the road. and now that rjdmmfl1 brings up about my tires i dont think i'll be doing that any more until i get my springs and new rims/tires. but if any one knows what to do to take the govner off please let me know for future reference. thank u

Usually, the governor is there because, like Robert said, the tires aren't meant for that speed.

Reality check:

You get a ticket at those speeds you'll probably lose your license for a year, not to mention the cost of fines, and car impounded.

You have an accident, and someone else dies, you'll be in prison for manslaughter.

Here's some good advice: Get your thrills under 100mph or go to the track.

Couldn't agree with you more...

I have a Honda CBR600, and all of my friends are squids (those young guys you see stunting/racing with nothing but T-shirts on).

After doing a few track days I never go riding with them any more... After pushing yourself in a controlled environment, the stupid risks people take on the street become very apparent.

Track days save lives!

Even 100mph is too much for some drivers.

WTF?!!! the speed limit on the hwy over here is either 65 or 70 and ive seen some hwys say 75 even. on i-5 in sacramento, people will tail gate you and flash you with high beams if you drive under 80 mph. Virginia sucks for that one.

okay, okay, get your thrills under 80-90 mph or go to the track....

thing is, 80 to 100 mph is 10 times less dangerous IMO than 110 to 130, which is just crazy dangerous, especially on public roads / freeways. ANd the really sad part is, it is usually the one who is innocent who pays the worst, like the pregnant woman, or the elderly, senior citizen couple who's been together forever...

THe day I realized that, and that it would problably be one of them that I hurt, my driving changed forever, and become a lot more responsible and much less dangerous to others.

really? i heard over 100 MPH and you get your car impounded. maybe it's different in So Cal cuz of all the racing over there. they got really strickt down there, like they crush your car if it's modified with ANY stolen parts or parts that you can't prove you bought. Nor Cal doesn't really care much, i mean hwy patrol will be gay every once in a while and randomly ticket people on i-5 since the speed limit is 70 and EVERYONE does 80. Elk Grove is really lay back about speeding. i've heard stories of cops racing people (not sure if they're true or not) and i've seen to cops race each other lol

Back on topic anywayz.

The CVT has already shown it has a weakness at the top end. Check out the 0-120mph video on CVT after around 100 it accelerates very slowly. The 6-speed keep barreling all the way to 143mph. The CVT is limited to 130mph, sorry guys.

The tires are V rated to 148mph

Damn thats a scary thought if a Civic Si creeps up on you with a 3.5 Altima

[edit]here is the video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlWYTnaDnK0 Notice after about 90mph it gets very slow, looks like it just BARELY makes it to 120mph

Don't let this happen to you!http://videos.streetfire.net/video/96e5 ... 6f48ff.htm
