anyone know if my turbo is salvageable?i was driving up in northern Ontario, and i blew my manifold-turbo gasket, i was on a logging road with no cell phone reception and a three hour drive to any phone. long story short by the time i smoked my way to a phone to call for a tow i wasnt getting any boost according to my gauge, tons of vac but it just goes to 0 for boost. i imagine its seized up from overheating. what should i do from this point.

was thinking of rebuilding. good idea? if so where do i get a kit? thought about a new turbo but can't afford it right now with school in the fall.

You sure you just didnt blow an intercooler pipe? Turbos will still boost if they are blown most of the time.

side note i live in a GM town, diesel shops won't make time for me anyways. and the shops that will are pathetic.

If you are talking about your 4 bolt turbo inlet gasket then that could be the reason you are not getting any boost. All of your exhaust pressure is leaking out of there and not spooling up the turbo. It should built a little boost though. If you change that gasket between the turbo manifold and the turbo then you should be fine. Rarely will a turbo just fail like that. You might also have a big enough peice of that gasket material stuck in the tubine wheel of the turbo causing it not to spool, but doubtful.

If you still wanna rebuild it then you can call a place called Limited Engineering (928-453-7321)and they can send u a rebuild kit or you can send it to them to get rebuilt.
