The headlights being a blueish white and the sidemarkers being an ugly yelllow. Well, today while at a "speed shop" checkin on some prices for some Falkens. I came across some of those Polarg bulbs imported from japan. The 194's that fit in the guages, sidemarkers, liscense plate light and pretty much everywhere else. Bought a pair for 8 bucks and put them in the sidemarkers in the parking lot.

I got to say, woah! Those suckers make the silverstars look yellow again. Ha. I guess the yellow sidemarkers made the headlights look whiter then they were. But yea. Ill take some pics. It makes the car look wayyyy different. Bought another pair for my guages too, and they look great. Blueish bright white. Almost H.I.D. looking.
Hm, I was just about to ask what bulb people use with silverstars, because teh corners definitely look like crap compared to them. Regular bulbs have that yellow tint, I tried amber to maybe have total contrast but it looks pretty lame...a nice bright white corner bulb would be nice.

You guys have to be kidding me right? Sylvania does make Silver Star Corner Bulbs, as well as fog light H3 bulbs, but good luck trying to make sense paying 20 bucks for a single bulb that normally cost 3 bucks.

I havent seen any Silverstar 194 size bulbs. I know they make turn signal bulbs and fog light bulbs though.

These are the bulbs I bought.

And yea, over at autozone just 1 turn signal bulb is the same price as the headlights. Way too much for something that isn't even on most of the time.

Oh well, that was probably it, I just glanced at them, and thought they were corner bulbs. Lol why would you want silverstar turn signals, I figured they were so damn expensive they must have been corner bulbs so at least they justified their expense.

Regular silverstars with amber 194s in the corners...meh. I want something that matches the silverstars instead..maybe I'll try the blueish lights.

Does anyone have any info about the Silverstars for the S13's? I'm interested but am not too sure about what one to get. I'm wanting to keep a sealed beam for now and I'm just trying to figure out what will work. If anyone has any pics with Silverstars in a S13 that would be great!

I have them, but I also have a ebay H4 conversion (euro clear headlights). I'll post some pics up tomorrow night.

I've had the sylvania cool blue (not silverstars I think) sealed beam for my s13 as well as 4-5 different h4 casings and style bulbs, and an H4 McCulloch HID Kit.

HID is the brightest but caused way too much glare in the H4 casings. i'm currently attempting to put in some ECE projectors into an experimental case, which is slowly coming along.

Sylvania's are way brighter compared to the h4's. Those things lit up the road very well. And for $40 a pair, it wasn't bad at all.

H4 bulbs I had (several different ebay types) looked much whiter, some of them a little more blue. Makes the Sylvania's look a tad yellow. However, the light output on these are significantly less.

The casing also makes a difference. The "diamond cut" style I bought made some odd lines because of the way the casing is. The projector style one I had made glare because there was no bulb shield on it.

Sorry for no pics but I've gone through these casings and bulbs like mad over the last year because of either cracked bulbs from rocks/pebbles on the road or lost through experimentation of fitting in hid projectors.

Dont know if quality plays a factor in this or not, but I dont really like the beam spread of them. The bulb is clear as day, and I have some people flashing me thinking I have my brights on. But the beam is basically like right in front of me. Maybe I gotta play with the aiming a little more.

Eventually I might go back to the sealed beam just to try it out. But the silverstar bulbs are like $35 shipped on ebay vs. $40 for the sealed beam pair.

Currently using Sylvania's - was running the h4 projectors because I liked the way they look (from other cars), but swapped those out during "experimentation" and now don't have them anymore, haha.

by far my favorites were those projectors, partially because I paid $100 for them online, only to find out they were on ebay for $40-50 shipped.

Is the beam pattern wide and highly visible? I might wind up trying them out. I saw them when I bought my H4's, but I thought they might have been just a cheap crock. lol

So I managed to take those pictures.

So the left sidemarker is the Polarg bulb and the right is stock.

And heres with the headlights on.

The stock sidemarker.

The Polarg sidemarker.

With both of the Polarg sidemarkers in.

The Polargs with the headlights on.

And heres the guages with 2 polarg bulbs in the sides and a red one in the middle.

All of these were with the Silverstars in.

Those side bulbs make the silverstars look yellow. lol I know they look bluish from the packaging, but do they actually give off the blue lighting (the corner bulbs)?

I have an s13 so my side/corner markers are yellow anyway and I dont like the look of the clear ones.

I wish I knew how to change my instrument panel lighting though.

I see a check engine light :P

It's a slightly bluish tint. From what I understand, the blue on the bulbs is there to make the light look whiter. I know my stock gauge cluster bulbs had a little blue condom that when I took off made the gauges look yellow, so it should be the same thing going on with these.

Im now thinking of getting some amber color fog lights or something to make the headlights "seem" whiter.

Changing the gauge bulbs on the 14 is incredibly easy. Takes me about 10 mins. I would like to know how to do it on an s13 because my freind wants to change all his instrument panel lights to blue ones.

That check engine light is weird. It's throwing the 02 sensor code, but after I put in a new one, it worked code free for a day, then started throwing it again. Hooked up a scanner and read the 02 sensor reading just fine. So the sensor is working fine, but it's still throwing the code. I just left it like that, i'll probably just take the bulb out or something.

I like the sidebulbs man. nice look. The gauge cluster looks kinda trippy though. blue-red-blue. Whatcha been smoking?

I'll have to pick up a pair of those side markers myself.

Nice pics. What camera settings did you use?

I prefer amber turn signals, they look cleaner and its easier for someone to see that you have your signal on.

I used to just have generic red bulbs in the guages. It looked nice all red, but then they started turning pink. I got a pair of those 7 color auto-changing LED's and put them in the guages and those were trippy. Most of the time they weren'et the same color though, but it looked ok. But those thing blew in like 3 days. I dont know how, but the LED's blew. Im waiting till I get around to buying another set to make the guages all bluish white.

And the camera was just taking pictures on it's regular setting, without the flash though.

I like how those Polarq bulbs look. They don't really make the silverstarts look yellow, just slightly less bright white. Way better than stock though, the contrast with regular 194 bulbs is pretty bad. Where can you get those Polarqs?

OK, I'm convinced, the Polarq side bulbs look great! Now the question is which sponser has them for the best price?

Importintelligence.com has them for 10 bucks a pair. They have the red one's too. I picked up 2 sets from a local shop for 8 buck a pair. But still. Support our sponsors!

Ebay has them for $9 shipped. Mine are on the way! Importintelligence wanted nearly $16 shipped.
