I had to respond to the 3000GT/Stealth comments.

Yeah they are heavy & have known issues with a lot more than you guys are saying bla bla bla, but compare price to performance & you can't touch them! With a good driver that knows how to do AWD launches you can do a 4.9 0-60 stock! More commonly 5.5! It does not cost $6K for a transmission or $800 to evacuate the entire engine compartment for a plug change. They handle very well because of it's all wheel steering system. If you are a good back yard mechanic there's no better car for the price! If you can afford a supra there's no choice about it... Don't take my word for it. Go to www.3si.org.

As long as you find a 3000GT/Stealth that has been taken good care of (like any car) they'll go over 300K. All of them are sports car. They all are gonna drain you financially. Either with original cost or maintenance.

Any way that's just my opinion & if you do get one get a 93+!

the 6spd Getrag transmission in the VR4 is very expensive to replace and isnt covered in the warrenty. anything less than a VR4 is a dog. i think they look really nice, but not worth the trouble.

hers some quick stats on the C5 corvettes and zo6's:

99 corvette LS1 hardtop: 6spd manual ($38k)35ohp 36o lb of tqo-6o: 5.o seco-1oo: 11.1o sec1/4 mile: 13.4 @1o8mph

o2 corvette zo6: 6spd manual ($5ok)4o5hp 4o5 ft lbs of tqo-6o: 4.2 seco-1oo: 9.1o sec1/4 mile: 12.5 sec@ 116.3 mph

so for the price, the zo6 is a great value, it can keep up with 2ook ferrari 355s and such, sure its not quite as 'nice' but as far as performance perspective, its an amazing buy

97 ferrari 355 (v8)- roughly 2ook new38ohp 268ft lbs of tqo-6o: 4.6 seco-1oo: 1o.7sec1/4mile: 13.oo@ 112.4mph

do the math, for the money, its a damn nice ride

I know the vr4 can be had cheap. I missed a very nice 94 model IIRC for 5900. Damn car looked like new. 107k only problem was the tach didn't work. I've seen them sell as cheap as 3k for one needing some work.

for me its hands down the MKIV supra. has some problems with california's regulation and all believe it goes like this for the TT

93-first production year of the MKIV

94-upgraded turbo's few other mods

95-same as 94

96-All automatic due to california's regulations on the TT

97-6speedTT last year of the TT

98-Last year of the MKIV believe TT had to be specially orderd or customly done.

correct me if im wrong on any of this. the MKIVTT to me is a "pipe dream" like megaseth said.

i have found some cheaper supras. most are about 20-25,000 from what i've seen. that is still too high for me, but i've also seen some as low as 10-15,000. i'm not going higher than 15,000 on my loan. i still need to find something to drive. i'm driving an 85 toyota 2wd pickup right now. i live in indiana and its in the 30s and 40s when i get off work. unfortunetly someone decided to cut the top off it. its a real cold ride home. sucks the motor went in my 240.

But you also have to remember that the supra's internals are strongest out of the other choices. The stock head gasket can holdup to 800hp and the transmission is the strongest 6-speed transmission made. Iwould definetly get the supra hands down if you have the chance and money to. The supra would be the biggest head turner next to the RX7. And the supra has a 2jz which means you could run the hell out of the motor even when it has over 200k.

Nobody wants a newer car???

Easy, cheap, and newer alternative. 350Z.

10k-12k will yield a 280hp rwd Nissan with a very nice aftermarket and most modern conveniences.

Early 6 speeds come with brembos. Engines are easier to find than KAs hehehe. Intake, exhaust, headers, suspension, body kits, turbo, supercharger...etc. all available.

For the price of a supra, you could have 400+ rwhp 350z.

if u set on getting a loan get an older STI

same price range as the rx7 used TT 300zx; and far more reliable/ fuel efficient
