are you talking about those cheap $60.00 "SUPERCHARGER KIT: ADD 10-10 HP INSTANTLY!!!" things?

or do you mean an actual belt-driven supercharger?

if you mean the cheapo kind, i hear when it brakes and shoots plastic into your manifold and head, it makes your car go real fast.

I have entertained the idea once or twice before but the cost wouldn't justify the means. There was a guy on here that put a MR2 supercaharger on his KA truck, but never posted any results. I assumed that it wasn't very successful. There was also a company offering to use your vehicle as a prototype, but it cost 6500 to have them do it and you had to ship it yourself. I would say if you have the time and money to experiment go for it. The main consensus I've noticed here on these forums is you get more bang for the buck with a turbo.

oh, well recently in the general forum there was a lot of talk of superchargers, even some KA sound clips, but no dynos yet.

some people are even trying to offer supercharger kits on these forums, or rather just gauging interest, but other companies like pinto-tech should actually have a kit out soon

some searching should find you a good amount of info. A lot of people are using the supercharger from the Benzo CLK230, i think its an Eaton M25, but dont quote me on it. It even has a clutch type pulley so it can be turned on and off like the A/C. However, in piecing together this kit it can be done for around 1k.

Those ones that go in the intake piping? They don't do anything but restrict airflow, and break like d!ck said. Superchargers and Turbochargers are actually air compressors.Look for the Popular Science article on gas saving devices ("Turbonator: Supercharge Any Car" is marketed as a gas saver), don't believe anything from any site that mentions Brown's Gas or links to sites talking about "Free Energy", "Zero Point Energy" or crap like that. They are all crooks, liars, and fools. Period.
