i got the april issue of super street today and was angered buy something i found. in there tech q&a section they put this in an answer.

"The Ka is such a great engine . Not only do you gain 0.4 liters of displacment, you get weak pistons and rods to go with it. High revving is overrated. Long stroke with 6,500rpm redline is the way to live life. Not to mention how loud and clunky sounding th KA24 is. You'll always think your motor is blown when you start it up in the morning. Then you can slap together a turbo kit, boost 4psi, and hope the engine doesn't blow. You mustbe out of your mind. The KA24 is the way to go. If you must swap throw in a single KA24E form the '89-90 models. That'd be sweet. Let us know how this goes."

i was very angered buy this one reason is because they had an article on the 10 best motors and the honda d16 was on the list yea the d16 is way better than a KA

Yea there was a "discussion" about it in the 240sx forum.

Meh. I dont expect any more out of Super Street. Not like they've got any credibility to begin with. Let them say what they want.

I guess the KA isn't as trendy as the SR, Too Bad.

I'm Still going to laugh at them when i make a SOHC Turbo KA motor. In my opinion the $2500-$5000 you would spend on the sr and the swap you can make a ka faster than the sr and still have money for gas.

Some day many of you will realise that the money arguement is meritless.

It's not about how much it costs, its about you making things happen to get what you want. If you want a KA-T then build a KA-T and visa versa. You do yourself no benefit by making a choice based on it being a cheaper route.

Believe me, what you think is cheap now may not be as cheap as you think it is in the long run. Ask Fiz, and he'll tell you that.

The D16 is an excellent engine, for what Honda designed it to do. It is not by any means a performance engine. I personally wouldn't buy too much into Super Street's opinions. They just copy info off the internet and spit it back out in a magazine. I doubt they really have any in depth knowledge of the KA or SR for that matter.

They always have something negative to say about the KA, except one issue they listed the build up of it, but still treated it like the red-headed stepchild of the SR. I like super street, but you gotta make your own decisions on what you think is the best motor.

Look how many of their editors / writers actually OWN or work on the cars they write about.

That should tell you something about their credibility.

Idiots.

I just wanted to say that i chose the ka out of preferance. i prefer the tourqe and overall daily driving characteristics of the ka. i was just mentioning the money as more of an added bonus.

Magazines are designed to entertain the reader and keep you reading. They have to come up with new stuff every issue and they mostly tell their readers what they want to hear.

For instance, I have been into body building most of my life. For years, those mags have been publishing articles on training routines. You think they would have it figured out by now. Plus, if they told you the trick to getting big you would have no reason to read their magazine. Same thing with fad diets and nutrition mags. Hello!! Eat less and eat healthy - duh!

Bottom line, never trust any magazine as a credible source of information.

I stopped reading it when they stopped including Tech (like 1998), it seemed to me that I was reading it to learn about how this stuff can be done. If all they were interested in doing was showing the cars, then I had no time/money for them. The rice can have them.

In this instance, then, what would you suggest being a trusty source of information?

The internet?

That's a slippery slope, if ever I saw one.

And FYI: I agree on the SuperStreet thing. Terrible magazine. I'm a magazine publisher, and just cringe when I see a copy of it floating around.
