Tree induced metal fatigue is a thing that many people have experienced at some point in their lives. It can be minor, or catastrophic. I think its time to shed a little more light on this disturbing phenomenon.

I would like to share with you the results of a serious bout of STIMF.

So there we were, driving along, when all of a sudden BANG!!!!. It happened so suddenly that the vehicle was nearly turned on it side.

This is what a normal car looks like.

And this is how the same car looks with Sudden Tree Induced Metal Fatigue.

The lug nuts are still tight in this pictures lol.

Be aware of your surroundings people. STIMF can occur in moments, and when you least expect it.

Drive safe and have a wonderful day.

Ian, when you hug tree's, you're supposed to get out of the car first, then take off all your clothes.

Its not the worst case I've seen. But yes, it comes on quickly with lingering, sometimes permanent effects.

Quick question. Is STIMF closely related or in association with SYP (sh*t your pants)? Glad you and your co-driver were unhurt.

About that.

After the brakes quit working and the car was driving at a 45* angle due to the broken everything, we parked it in the ditch on stage. We then proceeded to flash our bare white chests and perform lewd gestures at our fellow competitors. Im sure I will find some in car video of this sooner or later lol.

You're doing it backward. It's supposed to be sudden metal-induced tree fatigue.

Oh there was plenty of that too. The one big tree we hit first was surrounded by little trees. I mowed them buggers over like.... like..... Like Nico's Lumberjack.

I miss my custom title.

It works even better at night. The reflexion of the auxiliary lights off a nerdy adults bare white chest is bright enough to blind small children. If your opponents crash too, they can't beat you lol. It pays to be thorough.

Wow, I can't believe they walked away from that. If I were them, I'd go back to the guy that built the cage and give him a big ol' man hug and then get him drunk/boobies in his face.

I wouldn't. They should have died. They were essentially running a road race style cage. Yes they survived, but the cage was poorly designed, and it failed to provide matching protection for both driver and navigator. All this, even after those points and a few more were pointed out to the cage builder by a very respected, and vetran Pikes Peak racer. The builder refused to head warnings. The codriver is essentially the luckiest man in the world. At one point during the roll, his entire upper torso was outside of the car.

The nature of the roll down the hill actually limited heavy impacts. It was many glancing blows. Had there been a tree or boulder there to stop the car early on, they would almost surely both have died.

There have been similar and worse crashes in WRC and international rally. Cars running full FIA cages and stitch welding. They hold together far far better, and in most cases the occupants walk away, where as Jeremy and Yuri were life flighted to the hospital.

The video of the wreck. Saddly I only had a single camera running, and it was not the optimal viewpoint, but its better then nothing.

Here is video from another rally team. At minute 1:33 you can see the corner that took us out of the race. At minute 11:15 you will see where I finally parked the car. And yes, we are shirtless and dancing lol.

I love the end of the second video. "Don't count us out yet".

Yall should put that on the car somewhere, I suggest where the RH quarter. Just like a small decal.

The quote between the taillights kind of keeps with that mantra already.
