I'm jumping in way late on this, but just spotted this thread. I'm in the process of dealing on a 2010 Infinity EX and would like to do something just like this. I was also looking at JL Audio. I currently have a 1997 Nissan Maxima with a system in it that I really like... Kenwood DDX812 head unit, Hertz components powered by 1500w Kenwood Excelon Digital, Alpine center channel powered by Orion 300w, and two 10" Kenwood Excelon 1000w slim mounts powered by Kenwood Excelon 1200w class D mono. It's going to be hard to walk away from that system, but the car is getting too many miles on it, and my son wants it. I was trying to figure out a way to at least get something half decent in the Infinity EX. The "premium Bose" is nothing to write home about, but I figure it might not be so bad if it at least had some decent bass to go with it. My install guy figures he could wire in an amp and subwoofer at the back.
You have me intrigued with what you've done here. I figured I would need at least two 10" subs, which would suck up just about all of the space behind the rear seats. However, if just the single JL is as good as everyone says, maybe I don't need two. Do you think the 10W7 with the 500/1 amp would give me as much as my two Kenwood slim mounts? It sure leaves a lot more space back there. I'm definitely an SQ type of guy, although I do like some volume, and I tend to like a bass heavy mix. No rap. More funk and rock. How do you find the stock Bose system in the Infinity sounds with the JL sub to help it out?
