Subwoofer Question

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I see, speedeast do you think it is worth it? 300CAD for 2 12" subs and enclosure. The kenwood system I mentioned I have, above?

How old are they? If you bought 'em in the last 2 years, then yeah, that's a reasonable price.

I bought them 1 year ago. I wanted to know if I am getting ripped off, or the other person.

That's $291 usd, I can buy your setup brand new for about $360 or so usd ($372 cad)... $300 cad is a good price if they're in very good condition.

Oh yeah, and good news, you can hook that 10w7 right up to your amp like normal, good to go!

Yeah they are like new. No scuffs or scratches on it. Very well taken care of and not even played it too loud.

Yeah, it will be a pretty good match for it. Just hook it up normally, pos to pos, neg to neg, nothing special.

Hey speedeast,

Thanks for all the replies. When I showed a buddy of mine the idea, he noticed the JL10w7 being a 3OHM and my Amp working as a 1 or 4OHM. Does it matter? Or can it handle a 3ohm? I am not good with electronics, I usually get an installer to do it, but like learning about such things.

Trust me, I combed through all of that stuff, and the impedance (ohms, resistance) will be fine. The amp will run it just fine. The amp (@4 Ohms) will produce 11.18 amperes and the subwoofer is capable of handling 12.91 amperes. That amp is stable at 1 ohm, but is rated for 4 ohms, and maximum potential @ 2ohms. Keep me informed of your progress!

Alright, I will keep you posted as soon as I get the woofer and box delivered. Will get my installer to do it for me though.

Hello Speedeast,

My cousin ordered the package for me last week, and there was no update of shipment to date. I called them at the toll free number, the rep told me that the item is not in stock and it might order might be on hold at least 1 week. That sucks :( I was hoping to have it sooner. Did you ever order from that website before? If so, did you have any issues with shipping or holds?

Thanks,
G3LO

Yes and no. The 10w7 you ordered is pretty popular right now, and I can imagine the wedge having less availability because most people either want 2, or want to do a custom box. I hate to hear that though, bro. I was excited; when I saw that you updated your thread, I was like "Yes, he got it!" Just hang in there, it's worth it! Did you ever sell your pair of Kenwoods?

Hey Speedeast,

Yes I did! I forget to mention that in the prior post! I have sold it for 300.00, the guy was happy as well. I tested it in front of him it was all legit from both sides, buyer and seller. Now I am just hoping my cousin really ordered it, and it will be processed and not wait a month and a half. By the way my HID lights were shipped as of today as well!

I bought 6000K. I thought it would be nice since I had 6500K before on my MDX and loved the color. Although 6500K was a different brand, I think 6000K will look very nice on EX35.

Any word bro? If nothing has changed, file for a refund. Apparently since I bought from this site a while back they have been doing nothing but causing problems. If this doesn't work out for you, then I apologize. I hope it does though. Let me know ASAP and I'll make sure everything gets straightened out.

No word. I read reviews and was worried about it at first. My cousin told me that nothing was even placed, after he swore he placed it. I just bought it at a more pricey range from crutchfield. Great service, great value. Don't mind paying extra from authorized dealer. I just picked it up today! Hope to install it over the weekend and let you know!

Hey speedeast,

I am still waiting for the installer to do it for me. He is booked up until next week. I was hoping maybe if you know a good way to wire it and possibly write a tutorial for me, since I am no electrician and can call me a N00b at installations. A tutorial of how to wire it through the ex35 would be great. It is 2010 Journey Package. He also mentioned I need some RCA cables and such I am not familiar with.

Thank you,
G3LO

Quickest way to get everything you need is to go buy an amplifier installation kit like the one here:

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142PA41/EF ... ml?tp=2919

You can probably pick one up @ any local electronics place that sells car audio and accessories. Without being there and digging in behind your stereo, there's really no way that I could tell you how to do it. I tried looking up something, and came up short. I would either wait for that installer to be available, throw him an extra $20 to fit you in real quick, or find somebody else. This way if anything happens, you aren't liable. Besides, I don't know if your stereo has preamp outs or if you need to tap into the rear speakers. That's something that an installer can figure out for you.

Hello All,

Finally got it installed and ready to enjoy. Keep in mind that I like listening to music with quality vs just ripping the bass out of proportion. Hence, the video recorded with the JL is not playing near anything close to a quarter of the way. I turned down the gain on the amp fully down and increased the bass slightly on the factory deck. When you are in the vehicle it already sounds like the bass overpowers the vocals. I am happy! Here are a few pictures and a link to the video!

Enjoy,

Well, I am happy for you, man! JL FTW! What did it end up costing you start to finish? How did you end up getting it done so quick?

I got the installer to do it. Start to finish 680 for sub woofers. 100 for instillation. 780. Used my old amp, kenwood.
