but i want more!! id like to get the 10" type X in a ported box

i had the type r in a sealed before i changed boxes to a ported, and may i tell you there was such a difference! it sounded like a different sub! thats why i want the type X
I'm not going to tell you that the wiring you have wont work, but I (personally) would go with something slightly better. I'm a big fan of Stinger and RF cables. I don't really have any experience with the product you are running.

Also, if you're wanting to go ported with a 10" sub, the Type-X is probably not what you are looking for. I ran the 12" Type-X and loved it, but it is not a sub that will sound particularly good in a ported enclosure. It hits deep and clean in a sealed enclosure, but it doesn't sound that great ported (IMO). If you're looking for volume and not as concerned with sound quality, I can probably find a few more subs in that price range that will pound on 1000 watts RMS in a ported enclosure.

its not really tight, clean bass that im looking for, id much rather rattle my whole car and have everybody turn around (yes im that guy) but is that so wrong for wanting people to hear what i spent ~$500 for??! lol

id be glad to look at subs that you recommend its just that ive been really happy with my type R and jsut thought id upgrade to the type X

buuuuuut going back to what this thread is about can someone clarify if that box will fit? help a newbie out pretty pretty please??

Do you have interconnects(RCA cables) already?

You might want to go with 1/0 awg since you want to run 1000w just for the sub. The bigger wire will give you room for upgrading front stage with an amp or a bigger sub amp if you choose to do so in the future. Quality brand, good price but does not have interconnects.

I just bought this wiring kit off ebay.

Here are the details about the kit.

Wow, I went out to my car to measure and it wasn't until then that I remembered that I completely customized my trunk. The level of the floor of the trunk is no longer the same as a factory car. I know it's close, but in this case where that box is likely to either just barely fit or just barely not fit, I don't want to give you my numbers and have that change the outcome.

I've never wanted my music to be like this, I've always gone for loud and supremely clean if possible. If you really want people to hear you, you should just install speakers on the outside of your car. But, to each his own. While I don't agree with your logic, I certainly wont stand in your way. I'll try to help you get where you want to be if at all possible. Two things first. My car can get loud from the outside (only if the windows are down) and I've been bothered by the cops already. Watch out for the cops as in most places they've apparently got laws that are WAY to strict about loud music in cars. Two, don't boom your car too close to where you live. Having a loud car from the outside is like an open invitation for thieves to target you. Now, on to the meat and potatoes...

Yeah, the Type-X is not the sub for you. It's much more musical and clean, and doesn't get as loud as a number of others that can run off that much power (at that cost). It's been a while since I've even looked at SPL subs, so let me check into some of the new models and get back to you. Hopefully I can find something around that price range that will be loud in a ported box.

actually come to think about it, my friend has got a mazda3 with a JL 12" W3 in a sealed box and it pounds really hard, pretty much as loud as mine. So maybe its because i have an SUV with all the open space that the difference is so vast between sealed and ported. Maybe i will go with sealed, after all it is more clean and still pretty loud. Any suggestions on sealed boxes thatll fit? 10" of course. I would really like one that can sit back against the seat that looks (and now even sounds!) clean. So now that ive completely changed my mind can anyone help me now?

If you do want cleaner sound, the Type-X is a great sub. Like I said, I loved mine when I had it (I wanted to go bigger and better with this car, and that's why I did what I did). In my opinion, around that price, there aren't too many better subs. Some might disagree with me, but that's why I said it's my opinion. Also, it will still get loud and shake your car, but not as much as an SPL setup might. The 12" Type-X I had shook my civic nicely, even though that car was fully sound deadened as well.
