Hello everyone. I’m sorry if this has already been covered but I couldn’t find anything like it.

I have a strange 5 second beep that comes from the left side of my steering wheel and inside the dash that occurs intermittently. The beep only happens shortly after I’ve first take off (usually within less than 5 minutes of start up) and am driving down the road. It never happens more than once and never after running errands with the engine being shut off and then running again.
There are no codes or check engine light.

Thank you.

Try reseting your ECU and see if that helps....

Does the TPMS horseshoe come on in the gauge cluster at the same time as this beep?
Check the central info display screen too. INFO button, scroll down to TIRE PRESSURE.

There is no TPMS light warning. (No warning lights of any kind)

Only one of the TPMS sensors has worked since I bought the car more than 3 years ago and have never received any warnings about them. (I’m planning to replace them all when I get new wheels and tires to fit over the Akebono brakes)

I have reset the ECU and the beep came back within a minute.

Could you record audio and preferably video of this phenomenon?

Also, I assume this is about the 06 m35x in your profile.
Do you have the lane departure warning or intelligent cruise control features?

Yes, the 06 M35x

I’ll check if my dash cam was able to pick it up. (Audio isn’t always good)

I have all the options. I leave off iCC and disable the LDW each time I get in. The LDW doesn’t seem to affect it because I’ve left it on intentionally to see and the beep sounded even then.

Could it have something to do with the Keyless Entry system?

Does anyone know what part# 26350-EH100 is a “Buzzer” for? It seems to be where the sound is being produced by. I’ve removed it and the key missing from car chime (when car running and with key in pocket I step out and close door) still works as well as the door open/ignition on (not started) chime.

When unplugged, the LDW does not make noise but the light flashes on the dash when crossing the line.

Mine doesn't seem to have a part number, but from online catalogs, I think we are looking at this part. Check out the link:

Thank you for this! It sounds verrrry close to what I’m experiencing. Strange that it’s happening at the same time as myself.

Okay, now I’m getting very frustrated. While driving in to work tonight, and sans the buzzer, my car still made the buzzing sound.

I've watched the video and I think I've heard the sound before but can't put my finger on it.
- when intelligent cruise control was cancelling itself due to road conditions
- TPMS system
- windshield washer low
- I don't think the LDW would still make the sound after removing its speaker, but follow the video instructions (in the link) to turn the system to manual/default off

Either way, the sound reminds me of a safety/convenience system turning off

is it speed dependent? seems like you were cruising and maybe you hit the speed warning. while i don't even know if our cars have it, it could be a bonus safety feature :)

It’s not washer fluid(it’s full), the cruise control is always off and it’s not a speed thing as I’m usually going around 35-40 at the time. It buzzes whether or not LDW is on or off and it’s apparently not related to my P/S pump needing replaced (the noise came back after replacement).

How is your brake fluid level?

Yesterday I experienced a strange phenomenon. Our 2-lane traffic was going at over 60mph and someone on my right decided to abruptly cross over in front of me to the turning lane on my left.
Fortunately, due to my cat-like reflexes I avoided an accident. I immediately slammed on my brakes and heard this beep.
Unfortunately due to my cat-like reflexes, I'm not sure if the beep came before the brakes, due to the brakes, or after the brakes.

Oh, and I am not certain, but believe it was a long beep. It reminded me of when the cruise control system deactivates...and I know I didn't have cruise control on.
