Hi all,
I have a 2006 M35 that I need a hand with. All of a sudden the lane departure warning system has gone completely haywire. Once triggered after I start the car, it drones on and on in a kind of slow whine / beeping that is fairly constant and extremely annoying. Toggling the LDW switch on and off does not help, nor does pressing and holding the button.
I'm wondering if there's a way to disable it altogether, perhaps by finding the fuse associated with it and pulling it out? I searched the forum and couldn't find anything. Would be grateful for any ideas.

I think it's controlled by 10A fuse #12 in the fuse box under the dash. However, the fuse controls other gadgets, so removing it in a bid to disable the LDW might not be advisable. I'd say the LDW switch is probably defective. Changing it might resolve the issue. Or you could disconnect the switch altogether.

There is a sequence to disable the system (put it in manual mode really). I wasn't clear on whether you have attempted to do that. It keeps the system off upon startup, unless you intentionally turn it on. See the video at the very bottom of this post.
I am curious whether your system is actually being triggered and is working properly. Has anything happened to your windshield lately - window tint, rock chips, plain old dirt - that may be triggering the camera?
Either way, I understand the irritation of the constant alarm. You can disconnect the device that produces this sound, but this requires removing the knee bolster panel. The LDW chime is bolted on top of the key slot.

As always, nice graphics and videos from EdBwoy. The video angle seems however to have been covered by ben7769. According to him "toggling the LDW switch on and off does not help, nor does pressing and holding the button." I considered the windshield angle too, but I thought the switch was an easier step to start from. The uncontrollable behaviour of the switch suggests to me a bad circuit.
PS. By disconnection I meant the switch and not the beeping device.
