NOT_A_KA wrote:The Kamin keeps me from posting all my questions. I search for a long while before making a new thread. I think most forum search engines suck. It should use wild cards so I can find all GT35R, GT35, GT3540 topics by typing GT3*.

Also a lot of the thread titles have little description of what the thread is actually about. Maybe the almighty Kamin could edit these.

Finally I think there should be a separate section for people sharing pictures and project progress of their RB swap.

Finally, Finally, if you don't know the answer to a thread question don't reply to it.
im glad i keep people from making redundant threads

i TRY to edit titles but I do miss alot.

when i first started modding here there were NO photo posts allowed, i went more leinent because people kept calling me a mod nazi. this is a TECH forum. post your pictures elsewhere, but people arent as hardcore as i am haha. Im open to suggestions about where we can show off the cars. make a thread? sticky it? use the multimedia forum? just have a free for all in here?

How bout making a stickie like the Whore your car one in the 240sx/silvia forum.

But pics are also very helpful when trying to explain tech stuff too. . .

I agree, since we all can't be perfectly literate, a photo here and there does help.

my 2 cents... .

When it comes to a technical discussion... the more pics the better. Best way to explain the location, or fit, or any other description of a part is to show pics of it.

When it comes to picture threads... I think one or two are cool for the forum. It's always nice to see what other people are doing with there cars.

We have great Engine bay picture thread that we should find and bump back to the top for people to check out.

I think we should get more "how-to" and articles done... lots of pics in those would be great!

But, let's not turn into 240gen where people post up random pictures or random crap.. let's keep the number of threads to just a few and have everyone post in the same threads rather than creating their own new ones.

of COURSE they are still allowed in tech threads just not any "hey look at my new oil catch can" picture threads.

I think that the people who know what they are talking about reply... and those that don't lurk and/or ask questions.

Nobody here is on their high horse and talking about **** they don't know about. Some people are trusted more than others, yes, but thats a fact of forumites. Nobody in their right mind takes -everything- they read on a forum literally. You have to trust the poster. People here will raise the BS flag faster than Kamin can reply - so trust the people who have built reps on here as good techhies and question the ones you don't know.

People here are generally trying to help - not screw up someone elses build. Lots of guys have completed swaps, and the knowledge to back it up. Lots of morons ask questions because they dont search or havent even tried to research it. I feel justified in flaming them and then pointing them in the right direction.

I think Kamin does a pretty good job of keeping the RB forum in line - but hes not getting paid, hes doing it out of the nissan-ness of his heart - so its not a full time job. And if he ever says something wrong, or stupid, I'll call him on it. Moderator or not, he has to be held accountable like every one of us for what he says. This is an advice forum... if its bad advice, someone could lose a lot of time and money- so we all back each other up... thats why its a good place for info.

anyway i would help more but i'm far from giving advice so i help when i do know something or at least if i've seen it before or read it i direct them to it.so they can make their own decision on validity

I'm a noob that had been browsing this forum for wuite some time now. Im still in the process of actually buying a car(hatchs are so friggin hard to find) so I guess Im even less of a noob, Im a full on dreamer. I think noobs should use the SEARCH function more often and what not when looking for information because Im sure everythings been answered in here(or at least any noob question). Although I think any dumb *** question like "what engine to get" should deserve agression because a. its a dumb question b. this forum is to help, not to hold your hand.

To get my two cents off my chest has anyone ever thought of making a sticky pertaining to noobs questions? I mean, as a noob I myself would rather just throw a question in a sticky and get a pm response than make a thread and run the risk of being flamed. And wouldnt this solve to problem at hand of the clutter of redundant threads and the more interesting threads at page 3? Sometimed when im really bored I find myself looking for an interesting read here and find nothing but noob threads; it would be nice to have interesting topics right there instead of looking for them.

how about another famous sticky?

like something that can hopefully elimante repepitive questions. like one that has general websites that involve rb engines/skyline parts incorporated into 240's that r local or at least in the US. like that nismoparts.com luckly i saw it on a thread here and now im considering geting my water and oil pump there.

also including websites wit info more directly focused on the usual type of parts and engineering that was used on our nissans.

HxC_Nismo wrote:rb_dreamin are you trying to say i dont know much on rbs cause for your info i do all my own swaps and this is not my first. my rb26 is sitting on the engine stand because on i just got finished preping the motor and i actually just got finished yesterday doing my own damm wiring and now this weekend im finishing my auto manual swap (hanging pedal, trim at pedal, and clutch line) and then im intsalling the motor by next weekend and then fabricate my aluminum IC piping and then tig weld it to make it one piece for the hot and cold side so i have only four couplers instead of multiple ones. but dont start calling me a shop swap ( well i do have my own shop but i dont pay anyone to do my swaps or do my wiring) you dont know me at all, so dont try to start anything with me,and i never said i was the **** nor think i am cause i dont know everything and that is a reason why i go to forums and ask to see if anyone does know cause thats what nico is here for the most part. and im just trying to help out anyone the best that i can with what ive done.
hxc_nismo, the stuff you have posted here is minimal, but they lack common sense. The stuff that you post over at racebread is just flat out stupid. You post information that is all based off of your assumptions. You need to confirm your information before posting it. I see that you are trying to help out others, but its not really wise to give false information.

You said you "were" a newbie. I believe you are the definition of newbie.

Ok kids quit it!!!Don't MAKE me come back there!!!!

Listen, I know I've seen things posted that was not true or at least not fully true. You may think your right, but if your not sure if its right. Just take a second to google it or go to where you saw this information. Or like someone said previously, just mention your not 100% sure or to look into "XYZ"

To the guy who's running the 400 plus RB25.If he doesn't believe you.Why do you care??You have a 400 plus hp car.Or if it really bothers you, go do a dyno pull (time slip, etc...) that you can get a print out of.

Just about every new person with a 240 is going to ask the same question. We did it when we were new. We don't need to judge at all. If you don't like hearing the same question, don't reply. It's as simple as that. However, everytime I hear, "what's the best motor for my 240" I shoot a quick SR20DET. It's not like it kills me.

We are like a brotherhood and just like any of my brothers I would fight to the death for any of y'all. We should all have that mind frame.

Viva la Silvia!!!!
