He first said stock. So that means everything that came with the car right off the showroom floor. None of this different tire than oe or anything like that, yes I can slap on a set of drag radials on my TA and I can promise you my car will pull a way better time than what she would be in stock trim, with the stock tire.
Yes there are other variables, sea level, lessen psi in tires for better grip, temp at the track that day, the condition of the track, the driver themselves so on a so forth.
For the most part I believe him now, its just that for all my research long before this post I've never come across a listing for the stock s13 240sx being a sub 16 sec car in the 1/4. That was even with people posting some good times, and even some with a select few *basic* bolt ons.
So it came as a shock that he was able to pull this off and it looks like he had a few minor things to help him along.
I know all about cars running better after being broken in, heck the LS1 is a prime example of this.
Theres tons of factors that influence the time of a car, but when someone says, "hey i pulled this time in the 1/4 on a completely stock car!" That means to me the car isn't touched for any basic mods, but yet this person claims a 1/4 mile almost a full second than the norm. (which appears about .6 to .8 or so )
Can you see where I'm coming from? BUt now after I've read some more on here I guess theres a small select group of freak running cars that have claimed some crazy times. Props to them and props to the starter of this tread.
ONe of th factors I'm going to run into next week is the 3500 ft elevation of a track where I'm going to run my TA.
If he had his exhaust unbolted from behind his cat, that still isn't stock in a sense since the original condition of the car is altered. My exhaust on my TA is stock too BUT, I have an exhaust cut-out, which, like unbolting the pipe from behind the cat, allows me to dump my exhaust without going all the way back through the mufflers. Makes my car faster than stock. In fact theres claims of up to 8-12 rwhp from doing this mod, but you lose a very small amount of low end torque, something I'm not worried about in that car.
Its an age old argument I've heard many time 'ran this on my car thats stock other than a this intake and remnoved the muffler' ONce the car is altered different from factor...its not stock.
Just trying to show my side of it here, I need no more convincing since it seems some have claimed similar times.
peace.
