Well, since its SEMA time some new products are coming out and the Stillen Exhaust system is one of them. I was fairly interested in seeing this product. It appears to only be an Axle back system and they converted it to a dual muffler setup instead of the single. Price is $488.18 and is for the 2.5L only.

Hmm...interesting. I wonder why they didn't go full cat-back like the sedan exhaust? So they basically just changed the single large muffler for a dual muffler set-up and that's about it? I wonder how much gains can be seen with just a change of mufflers? I would personally wait for a true cat-back to get the best bang for the buck.

I'm still waiting for a better price on the exhaust for my car 'cause I can't see myself paying $900.

Hahah thats really wierd. They must have noticed their error. It didn't say 3.5 or 2.5 earlier.

Looks like it only fits the 2.5. This makes me happy cause hopefully the 3.5 will be something a little different.

Awesome news for the 2.5 owners!

Yey! just got off the phone with Stillen and the exhaust is available NOW!! and also asked about the eibach springs and stated that they will be released right after the SEMA show. Tech did not know though that if the ones on the AC were the prototypes or the production ones but will let me know via email as soon as they get the price and release date info... cant wait.. This is gonna be one of the best dang cars out there, I get compliments all the time!!!

Its for both since the Altima coupe 3.5SE and the 2.5S have exactly the same rear exhaust section. The only difference under both cars is that the 2.5S has a resonator and the 3.5SE doesn't, and the 3.5SE has a finned transmission pan cover which the 2.5S doesn't have.

The finned transmission pan cover:

The rear exhaust section is the same on both trim levels:

The 2.5S' center resonator:

The 3.5SE doesn't have it because it doesn't need it:

I just talked to Stillen and was told that they plan to have the 3.5L version of the "Cat-Back" exhaust for the coupe out in the next few weeks!

I'm not that educated either but I am guessing that the whole concept here is to minimize the resistance. This is why it starts with headers and ends with the exhaust. Just like with forced induction where we try to flow air into the engine faster we need to make the exit of air out of the engine fast as well. Headers are more efficient and produce less resistance allowing air to flow out faster with less effort from the engine. With the higher performance exhaust systems they are less restrictive and more free flowing. Straight pipes are even more so (although I don't know that those are legal on the street). But the real reason the majority of people get the performance exhaust is the sound. At least this is what my guess is. I'm sure that there are much smarter people on here that probably know the real answer.

something is wrong with Stillen's website. I used the option "browse by vehicle" and all the stuff that came up were for trucks. ?????

Another retardo question here, my 2.5 is a lease so will I be able to reinstall the stock exhaust when I need to if I do go for the stillen?

As long as you go with a bolt-on system. Don't go to your local muffler shop and have them weld something on. Just go with a car specific exhaust, like the Stillen, and you're good to go.

What do you mean by a "straight pipe" exhaust? Do you mean something without a muffler whatsoever? Or are you referring to the resonator not being present in the 3.5?

Two things.. first.. if you look closely at the stillen site.. you see that this new exhaust is only axle-back.. not a full cat-back exhaust. that means that its only the tips pretty much right? also.. what do resonators do?

Also, if you read carefully it says that in my description and on the Stillen website They are providing you with just the muffler section. The resonator quiets the exhaust tone.

Appearance. Perhaps some HP gain since you are replacing a potentially restrictive single muffler.

A hell lot more noise! it's on the 2.5S because the 4 banger is a screamer, so they needed to shut it up a little bit. I wouldn't remove it If I were you. its there for a reason.

Intake and cat-back exhaust would be the best route. The INJEN sounds amazing in my opinion!

If you change the intake on the 4cyl you are gona lose the benefit of the resonator, or maybe not.

so if you have a 2.5 and get the exhaust... the resonator is still there, or its taken out?

Resonator is still there, that is why it is an axle back on the 2.5 and a Cat back on the 3.5...
