I do recall fixing a remote control I had 15 years ago. And back in high school I took one of thoses electronic classes where we made stuff out of kits that we soldered together. i might beable to handle that as a weekend project when Iam not busy I will take you up on the detail in the weeks to come.

I keep a complete set of working USED* electronic modules and mundane things like MAF, CAS, ignition modules, IAC, ecu, tcu, body control, radio, wiper amps, FPCU..........everything that could fail and be hard or expensive to locate when I need it for my car...............all fits in a 6 foot storage cabinet in basement.

8 years of collecting from wrecks and junkers.

When you have it on hand things seem to rarely fail, it is the module you don't have that fails.

Necessary items when you own a 16 year old 310,000 mile Q. But if it was a LS400 similar things fail at different times.

It has been 1 week now with the new (used MAF sensor) in the ride and there has not been any hiccups at all. Knock on wood. Looks like the replaced MAF did the trick for this fix.

I will keep an eye on it and report any problems.

Finally found a fix. Should have just went straight to the MAF from the begin. Just goes to show you car friend buffs, local mechanics and some dealers just dont know the Q45's like NICO guys. Thanks for all the knowledge on another fix.

now lets open up that old maf. de-solder the copper shield and take a good look with a bright lite and a magnifying glass. broken or cracked junctions? burn marks anywhere? signs of electrical flash? to answer your previous q. re-seal with back silicone.

Fantastic, bigdog! Amazing what an exasperating pain in the *** a bad MAF can be, eh?

And your experience with the dealer is just one more warning to other G50 owners - don't ever assume they know what they're talking about. There just aren't many techs who have experience with the older Q45.

Great idea. MAF sensors generally don't fail for no reason.
