I recently bought some Infinity 4x6's for my 90 hatch and I was planning on running new speaker wire. Is there any easier way to run the wires to the back instead of ripping off all the plastics? And if so, what gauge should I use? A local audio shop said 16.

For what reason are you running new wire?

Cuz the previous owner(s) hacked the s*** out of everything and wired the deck wrong too. I'd feel better knowing I redid it all, or the majority of it. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my cars lol, dunno if thats a good or bad thing with 240's. I got it as a commuter a couple months ago and now I'm finally putting money into it.

Don't bother running new wire, there's no way around those dreaded plastics. It's wimpy, but if it still works, use it.

Here's my setup. I just threw in some 6x9s. Sounded MUCH better than tiny 4x6s. I still am thinking about a way to tuck the wires though....

Lol, my cars dirty. And the speakers are crooked, lol.

Well I applaud myself on being an idiot and not thinking about just extending the wires and throwing bigger speakers in the back

I've bolted my 6x9's directly to the doors, doesn't rattle, wobble, or get in the way.(very old pic btw) I took out that plastic shroud since it made the speaker sound like crap. Cut the harness (which i think had 3 wires) and soldered the small 2-wire speaker harness to the two leads that made the sound "sound right" 5 years no problems.

There is also someone that is making templates that will bolt into the door where that plastic part used to be, but only holds 6" rounds. Plus side is that is looks a bit more stock. zerothread/183809

Not sure if they're still making them, but you can find some if you look.

I did this like he did here, only with pioneershttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=172745

its so easy to disassemble and reassemble all interior... i just say take of the rear seat panels and all the rear hatch panels on either side. if you want it done right you gotta take ur time to do it right..... just be carefuly popping off all the plastic tabs on the back side so you dont break or tear ne thing out. check out my 6 speaker system... it wasnt very hard. just gotta be organized and know what you want so you dont quit half way through the project
