So yesterday I traded in my 07 G35 2dr which was pretty damn loud haha(Don't get me wrong I loved it). I'm moving on to the luxury sedan world and I picked up a 2010 m35S and am very happy with it. Basically, I'm looking to pickup some new mufflers that will still be nice and quiet normally driving around, but produce a good sound when I step on it a bit. Not really looking into a whole new exhaust setup since the stock one is still in great shape.

Welcoem to NICO! Congrats on the new car.
I don't know a heck of a lot about the M's, but can suggest you check out one of our sponsors in the Marketplace tab above. Mention NICO and get a discount!

If you get the opportunity, write up a review about what you end up buying.

You could always get some cutout mufflers. Ones that work normal when you want but can be triggered to open up and bypass the mufflers to be much louder when you step on it hard.

just pick up a set of Megan Midpipes and swap out the OE midpipes while keeping your stock mufflers. Then you can get bigger exhaust tips for a better look.

The sound will be nice and quiet while driving, then when you step on it, it'll sound really good.

I've done many exhaust set ups on the M from full Megan cat back, xyz midpipe, HFC's....

I currently have stock cats, HR ypipe, Megan Mid pipes, stock mufflers (bigger tips and larger inlet tubing to match the 2.5" Megan midpipes)....sounds really good, yet quiet when cruising.

CPJ - i'm ashamed of you - just keep stock mufflers - pffffffffft... open headers brah.

But really - either what CPJ said - OR, delete your mufflers and add tips - actually quite a rewarding sound...

If too much badassness, look up "chambered muffler" that is exactly what you are asking for.

I think most here have replaced stock with Megan or Tanabe. Personally, I got 'axle back' Tanabe mufflers. To my ear, they have a deeper bass note and are silent at motorway speeds, but give a great growl when you give it the beans. Megans are also a great sounding set-up.
Either way, if you want to ensure less noise in the cabin, just do an axle-back instead of a complete replacement.

The Tanabe are a direct bolt-on and come with new flanges. It took less than an hour for the muffler shop to install them and they were indeed a direct bolt-on. No custom work was required. I got mine here:

What up fat3oy!!! Where you been hiding brah?! hope all is good....I must be getting old, so the stock mufflers are doing just fine for me -- for now

I'll be moving to the east coast by June and once I get situated, I'll either unload my M or keep it... I'm shopping for a Jeep SRT (2012 - 2015)....THEN I'll get the throaty exhaust going!! hahhahahahah...

good to see you're still around.....peace brotha!
