Ok here is my situation, when I go to start my car with s14 sr in a 91 hatch, all i get is a clicking sound coming from two yes two relays. I have replaced both relays so I know that is not the problem. As for the starter goes I know that it works because I hot wired it and the motor did indeed turn over. So my question is did I hook up the lower harness properly, if anyone has any pictures of this it would be great. I have two femail plugs on the lower harness and I know one of them goes to the starter. But I have no clue whatsoever as to what the other solid black wire goes. Is it perhaps a ground to something? I don't have it hooked up because I'm not sure of where it goes. This is my first swap and I've only posted a few times. And yes I did use the search option, but I'm lost so please don't grill me, but simply help me. Thanks in advance, I'm so anxious to get this running so plz help me.

bump, more info, Wiring specialties did my wiring so more than likely it is not the wiring in the upper engine harness etc. Ok should the Alternator have a ground to it? and could this cause the starter to not get power?someone plz help

there should be a power wire to the starter, and a ground for the starter solonoid, it is a small black wire and it attaches to the edge of the solonoid, there is a male spade connector there. without the solenoid ground you get nothing.

yes the alternator will have a ground to it. Its just a small wire with a ring on the end, its just grounds the case of the alternator. The alternator also has a large power wire to it (+12V from the batt) and a 2 wire plug.

SO it sounds like its just not cranking? For cranking all you really need is your starter wired up and your engine grounded. If you have it set up as sideways mentioned, make sure you check your ENGINE ground, without it the starter wont turn.
