I have a 92' fastback. Today while I was driving my car it was running strong until I stopped at a stoplight. When the light turned green and I pressed down on my accelerator my car wouldn't go any faster then 15mph. It was like my car was stalling, and wouldn't want to go any faster. I've had the same problem before, before I did a full tune-up on my car, but now it's back again. The only problem I know which could be the problem is a hole in the muffler, which a mechanic told me about when I did the full tune-up. So far I've had my catalytic converter replaced, I've had my oil changed, fuel filter, coolant changed, and today, before the problem occured, I added one full bottle of Seafoam in the gas tank. What could be the problem with my car?

I thought the see foam was for use in the intake not the fuel tank?? If it is your probably running out of octane if your tank wasnt full when you poured that stuff in there.

yea my tank wasn't really full.. i added the seafoam when it was just about half-way full on the tach.

My car doesn't backfire, or smoke, and I didn't have the opportunity to rev my car today. My car was running really strong on my way to work yesterday, but on the way back (my mom driving it back home) it kind of stalled and wouldn't want to run any faster then 15mph.

So far people on the forums have told me that I need to change my fuel filter, check the transmission fluid, and the MAFS. If it were the MAFS would a mechanic be able to fix it, and how much would you think they would charge me?

maf is probably not fixable by you or I

I personaly think it's your transmission fluid, top off first, woryr abotu other things later, BTW no body want a stock maf, lucky for that's goign to be easy for you to get

Its not your transmission fluid

It may be your fuel filter, but again I thought seafoam was an intake cleaner you fed into the intake via a vaccum line, not poured it into the tank??? If that seafoam is not suppose to be in your fuel it could be diluting your fuel effectivly reducing your octane level which would make it feel like it doesnt have enough fuel or power.

I revved my car past 2k rpm and didn't have any problems what so ever... I also filled up the gas tank today, so the tank is now full... Other than that I'll try replacing the fuel filter some time this week.

Today on the way to and from the gas station I didn't encounter the problem at all. My car was running smooth and strong as before, and I was running the speed limit (35-45). I dont' know... my car is just plain weird this usually happens once in a while...

As for the seafoam, i've read on the forums that some people used it to clean out their injectors by adding it into the gas tank..

you can add it to gas tank, crank case (valve cover), and through the vacuum hose on the brake booster
