I have a 92' fastback with 110,000 miles on it. Today while I was driving my car it was running strong until I stopped at a stoplight. When the light turned green and I pressed down on my accelerator my car wouldn't go any faster then 15mph. It was like my car was stalling, and wouldn't want to go any faster. I've had the same problem before, before I did a full tune-up on my car, but now it's back again. The only problem I know which could be the problem is a hole in the muffler, which a mechanic told me about when I did the full tune-up. So far I've had my catalytic converter replaced, I've had my oil changed, fuel filter, coolant changed, and today, before the problem occured, I added one full bottle of Seafoam in the gas tank. What could be the problem with my car?

no, when i start my car and just let it idle it's fine... it runs normal, but when I'm running on the street sometimes it wouldn't let me run any faster then 15mph even if I were to press down on the gas.

i'll visit the dealer tomorrow and buy a z32 fuel filter... also could the muffler with a hole in it be causing the problem also?

add more transmission fluid if its low, and check for leaks around it.if you put it in neutral and try to rev higher than 2500 rpm and it stutters and doesn't go past that, its cause its either loose or the MAF is not working.

you mean the transmission could be loose? Would the MAF be fixable at an auto shop, and how much do you think they would charge to fix it?

doubt tranmission is loose

he is suspecting either your transmission is low on oil, which can be temporily remedied by toping it off with ATF

either that or the MAF, which could be broken or lose, he asked to to put the car in neutral to see if he reves over 6k and if it does then it's not the maf as broken maf will cap your rpm

I know seafoam in the vacuum system pretty much destroys the oxygen sensor and maybe the plugs. Does anyone know if it doesn't anything like this if it is in the gas? How much gas did you dilute it with?

does the engine rev up even though the car doesn't move? Manual or auto? slipping clutch or transmission. Check to if the throttle cable didn't slip, are you getting full throttle.

I'm thinking you need some of thoes magnets to put on the fuel line. They're supposed to be worth like 144% increase in milage and an 96 hp boost. That should get you atlest 41 mph. A can of STP should be good for another 35mph. Lets no leave out the tornado...

Seriously though, replace filter. Check fuel pressure. Possibly burned out ECU and your in "limp" mode. (that would be an expensive repair)

check for trouble codes (faqs on the http://www.240sx.org site to do this if u dunno already)

+1 on the guess==> mebbe the MAFs plug has come unplugged/loose, cuasing a "limp" mode.
