Silverado has: power programmed, tb sacer, exhaust, intake.

SR240 has: Turbo cat-back exhaust, boost gauge set at 10psi, and intake.

What's your take on this? Who would win?

What kind of race? What configuration is the Silverado?

most likely the 240 will win unless your pulling anything.

Drag race. I'm not sure. I copied and pasted those "mods" from the guy who is trying to set up the race. I'm going to race for body work. If I win he'll pull out all my dents and primer it black. If he wins I'm going to detail his car once every weekend for a month in a skirt.

[edit:]We chose drag race because I'd mangle his *** in any other type of race.

I'm saying 240 if you know how to drive and the car is healthy. The LS-series V8s have killer torque, but over a 1/4 mile I don't think you'll have a problem.

Let us know how you do. That sounds like a good bet!

Well I haven't actually accepted yet because I'm not sure on the "performance" abilities of the silverado. As long as he doesn't squeeze the nos kit I should be fine right?

Anyone know what they run stock on the 1/4 mile? And my car is very healthy, 35k on the engine and 108k on the chassis. And I'm a decent drag driver, Better at auto-x and road racind though.

I'd find out which engine is in that Silverado. My friend has had a 1500 and now has a 2500HD -- both have a lot of torque, think they would get you off the line, but they have no top end. Your best bet is a long race. I'd also look for a supercharger on it.

good luck

My dad has a new Silverado...quick car but I think an SR powered 240 should'nt have too much trouble dispatching him. Those Silverado's (at least the 1500's) have a nasty part of the power band from like 2700rpms-4200 or so though.

You'll have to run him down, but you shouldn't have a problem as long as you're talking 1/4 mile.:icon18

I've been driving an Escalade tonight with 345hp. It does have a nasty powerband, but also a lot of weight to pull. I think a healthy, SR-powered 240 wouldn't have a problem.

The ladies seem to like the Escalade though...

The only reason I'm going to race this is for the possibility of free body work. FREE body work. Man, that'd be awesome.

yeah.. sorry, i forgot to make a point in that post. Point: your mods are similar to mine: SS is the fastest silverado. If my exboss backedout, it must have been for a reason. You are probably as fast or faster.

Just crank up the boost to 14 psi and let it fly.

The SS is not the fastest silverado. It's an extended cab, all-wheel drive, 345 HP "pimp" truck. It wieghs over 6000 lbs. and comes with 20" rims. They run 16's in the 1/4. I promise you that the guy that wants to race would destroy an SS, if it's the 5.3L regular cab with those mods.:alcoholic

You know, if this guy has N2O, I bet it's not some dinky 50 or 75 shot. It is very possible for this guy to destroy you with N2O, I wouldn't underestimate him.

I'm not underestimating him, that's why I'm asking to see if I have a chance or not.

It may not be the fastest, but it runs a 15.0 in the 1/4 as tested by motortrend. Source: http://www.motortrend.com/road....html

that is damn quick for a 6000lb truck.

If I were you I would crank your turbo up to 14psi. And you better pray that you get a good start. If you don't ...... its over (thats if the truck guy uses NOS and its 75shot or over).

Is it alot of body work? if it is go for it and if you lose its just a skirt hell some guys wher them and call them kilts, plus its a 1/4 mile youll be pullin the hole way he just be pullin the frist half or so. but make him take his nos line off the bottle just to be safe and lanch at 3500 and lower your tire psi to like 20 or so and dont miss a gear or it might be all over

Btw is his a 5 speed or auto

Our shop acquired an '03 2500.. it's got nuts, no question. You'll have to drive around him, because he'll literally leave you like you're standing still... but acceleration will suffer with increased speed, where you should be able to catch him, if he's not too far out in front. Beware, torque is king.

His is Auto. And it's quite a bit of body work. He's going to pull the major dents in the body, big and small. Primer the whole thing black, shave off my emblems and prep it for painting. Lots of work.
