My sr is done now finally.. But... there is a huge huge problem.. my usa speedometer is reading in KM and the speed limiter cuts off at 200 km which is like around 60mph so i can only drive 60 mph and my odometer is reading in KM too and its going to up real quick.my car is a 98 s13 red top i used the sr speed sensor. what could be wrong?

actually 200 km is more like 120 miles . 1km = 1000 meters 1mile = 1690 something meters. so take 200 divide by 1.69= 118.34 . put the speed sensor from the KA instead of the speed sensor form the SR. do a search there are a few how to on these forums about that.

Yea its a S14 with a S13 redtop... I couldn't fit my KA speed sensor in it. Should I get a S13 ka speed sensor or a DOHC transmission speed sensor?

Hello Teerawood,I am having the same problem. As a quick fix in order to get around the 60MPH speed limiter, I cut the yellow wire/green stripe that goes to the ECU. This is the vehicle speed sensor wire. This will allow you to go faster than 60MPH. As a permanent solution, you will have to use a S13 KA speed sensor. You obviously cannot use an S14 VSS because it will not fit into the S13 transmission. It should solve your problem with the S13 KA VSS. You will have to get under your car and see what your VSS looks like as there are two types of VSSs. One looks like this with a pigtail and a more rounded base, and the other looks different. You will need to get the one that looks like the one in there now.

Thanks man... I was thinking about cutting the speed sensor wire to the ECU but i am not sure about the long term effects of that... Anyways thanks for the help... Its kinda hard to tune my car and not be able to go over 60 mph

This is what my S14 speed sensor looks like... Im assuming this wont fit into a S13 SR transmission?

I have never seen a S13 speed sensor before.. Do they look like the silver ones posted above?

Nope.. Tried to fit that in my sr transmission.. No go... So i am guess we'll have to find a S13 sensor

Yeah I also have that S14 sensor and sadly it will not fit into the S13 transmission. The S13 has two different speed sensors that I know of and one of them looks like the pic I posted above.

My friend had the same problem that you did with his speed sensor. He has a S13 Redtop in a 95 240sx. He was hitting the speed govenor while his speedometer did read about double of what it should be reading. The thing is the S13 speed sensor DOES NOT work with the S14 speedometer.

I even sourced a KA speed sensor from a 92 240sx for my friend and he still had the same problem. I dont know why you say that the S14 KA speed sensor doesnt fit into the S13 because it did. Even though the connector is different and the outside looks a bit different, the sensor fits and works with the S13 transmission. The only thing that is different from the S13 sensor and the S14 sensor is the connector.

You need to cut the speed sensor connector off of you KA lower harness and solder it onto the SR lower harness. Maybe the early model S14 speed sensors are the same shape as the S13 and the later ones arent? In anycase dont waste your money on a US 240sx S13 speed sensor because it WONT WORK I already tried it

We did a auto to manual swap on my friends 95 and had to order the speed sensor AND gear from nissan and now it works fine.

Solution...get S14 SR transmission's.

BTW S13 SR and S13 KA manual speed sensors are the same. 25010-35F00S14 SR and S14 KA speed sensors are the same. 25010-71T00S13 Kouki SR speed sensors and S14 KA and SR speed sensors are the same. 25010-71T00

This is correct, I did the same on my 95 240 with a redtop, I believe the sensor may be differant between Zenki and Kouki model 240s. Solution, get a speed sensor for a 95 KA, it is differant from either the S13 sensor or the later model S14 sensor and is the only one I believe will work with S13 motors and S14 cars.

its the only one that sticks out, and has a single screw holding it in.

Ok, I have a 97 chassis with a redtop in it. So would I need to get a 95 KA VSS? I have a brand new one sitting here from 95-98 240SX Auto trans. Are the auto and manual VSS's different, and does the 95 KA manual VSS fit into the S13 SR transmission? I would really like to get my speedo working correctly and I don't know which VSS I need.

I dont know if the auto VSS is any differant, but I would believe they are, check the part #s for the 2, I have a 95 240SX with a Redtop, I used my KA speed sensor, all I did was soder the wires onto the old plug.
