It's not my cup of tea. However, it would potentially be a much better track car due to the ENORMOUS weight savings by putting in a small engine with turbo charger. Although, BMW 325is coupes weigh in at 3100, so they're not *too* bad as is. But if you can shave a couple hundred pounds . .why not. .

That intercooler gets me! If he cleaned all those bugs off I bet he'd pick up some power!

yeah you guys are right, that must be sacreligious or something. Why the hell would someone want to put a highly relaible, high horsepower and relitively inexpensive 2 liter turbo motor in a car to replace an enimic 1.8 liter N/A inline 4? Thats stupid. It would make much more sense to spend thousands of dollars getting a M3 motor so you can have less HP for more money.

Well said J-Spec. I think tere is nothing wrong with the swap. Just cause its a bimmer dosn't mean u should put nothing but a BMW motor in it. Plus have u seen the prices for BMW aftermarket performance products! Man i would do it too. And if the intercooler is most affective like that aint nothin wrong wit it. Plus its somethin original.

I agree... Looking at the background the car seems to be located in an Asian country...i am sure the SR he got cost 1/2 of the price here.

I still don't like mutt cars....

think I'd have just built a turbo 2.3 for it or something. and he really needs to do something about that IC, he's busting the fins up but good!

Are you guys thinking of how expensive BMW parts are? That BMW is clearly in a south east asian country, where any bimmer motor would easily cost 8, 9, 10 times as much as native regional alternatives. Plus mut swaps are cool, they show you have the technical know how and fabrication skills to accomplish what many people would not even dream of doing. At least thats how i look at it :pface

I would love to drop a CA in an old e30 m3! The old m3 motors were unreliable, and extremely expensive to maintain, but the e30 chassis is bada$$! Now if I could only find an m3 shell for cheap... mmm... sooo sexy machine:D

well the original bmw 93-96 3.25i are an inline 6 190HP (correct me if im wrong) but wouldnt it be better to turbo his bmw motor? Or even better if where he lives motors are cheaper why not a rb26dett or a 2jz motor?

I've seen a 2jz motor in a 96 3.28 w/ a t78 and its pretty nuts, but lag is a b*&^% full boost about 5500 rpm and only run full bost to 7k rpm.

But if he likes it then all the power to him

3 series was also availible with a 1.8 liter NA inline 4 putting out only 138hp/125tq in both the 318i and 318is from 92-98 in that body style.

lets see, expensive 1.8L NA ~115whp or cheap 2L turbo ~175whp? what would you chose?

or at least that would totally justify the swap i think :D
