I have the 12cm2 stock turbine housing. How much smaller are the outside deminsions of the BEP .70ar then my housing??? Can I get it any cheaper than this... http://www.theturbotrader.com/...22_25

theres no need to replace that 12cm2 housing it will spool just fine, but i guess there could be fitment issues with the stock housings?

you have no experience with it obviously - because the 12cm spools like douche. And NOT MOST have a 12cm. It depends if its Auto, Manual or what year it is. Get over it tho - do whatever you want - I dont care.

keep substituting the internet for experience superstar... i knew there was a reason i avoid this forum.

theres no reason to make this a personal attack.. i didn't take it there i just requested some more info! also this i've had 4 diff motor builds all with holset turbos not too mention an bunch of friends that have dodge cummins trucks that i have helped work on. i've personally used an hy35 a hx35 and a hx52, i currently have a hx52 and a he351ve the he351 is going on my built sr240 while i'm building up my 2jz swap parts.

all my current holset experience is in the honda world sure.. but it still relates.

now obviously an hx35 isn't gonna spool like a damn t25 so you can't expect that.

on my built b18 ls/vtec the hx35 had full boost by 3500-4000rpms i was running 19psi car made 422whp that was a pistons and rods only build i made my own ramhorn manifold for it. i would expect it to be similar on an sr20 to what my 1.8 liter flowed since the heads on the sr's aren't quite as good as the b-series **** is flow wise.

reason i'm using the ram as an example is cause its the most common thing that you are gonna find these turbos on in the US

i would love some video of 19psi @ 3500rpms on your 1.8L honda. I'm on a lot of honda forums and no one else seems to claim it. most people claim 4500 on a b-series. and thats for like 15psi.

These turbos spool quick and make great power - but 3500 sounds like an exaggeration.

If he's making 422whp at 21psi on a B18 I should make at least that on my SR?? With a good mani and a BEP housing! I'm thinking 450+ with bigger injectors. I will have a dyno sheet and proof of what the holset will do on a SR at the track by march 1st. I've got 86.5/8.5-1 pistons and a .20 overbore with tomie cams and a cleaned up head. I will be adding a intake with the top mount setup as well.

i did say 3500-4000 this was also with and avcr and a 50mm wastegate, home made twinscroll manifold. a good electronic boost controller can make a huge difference in spoolup time. also the b-series vtec heads flow considerbly better the the sr20det heads stock sr20det intake flowed 220cfm, stock b16 intake flow 260cfm. sorry i have no videos that motor setup was done about 3 years ago.. it dropped a valve.

you will probly lose some up top with a bullseye housing. smaller the exhaust side is the more it shifts your powerband down in rpms. btw the 422 was at 19psi so you should be able to make similar power on the sr due to the increased displacement . good luck on your build.

oh and also on my 2liter honda motor with the hx52 400whp at only 8psi

so you have this miraculous setup that makes boost earlier than anyone else in the world - and you dont even have a video or a picture of it?

i would love to see it - because whatever you did - is what im doing next.

I'm getting very close to starting my HX35 Sr20 build thread. I have my turbo, manifold, oil feed and return lines, now I need some silicone reducers for the compressor and my wastegate. Then I'll start putting it together, fabing up my DP, and compressor inlet/outlet. I will be taking pictures and starting my thread this weekend. I will have a video by the 1st of Feb. and a Dyno by the 1st of March.

Any suggestions on quality wastgates besides tial? I want a 1 bar spring and reliability without creep. How about this one.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...item=

you can make your own hoses, using earls custom fittings

http://www.roadcatalogs.com/store/earls.html

the oil fitting going into the sr20det block is 14mm at 1.25 thread pitch, the rest can be found.

for the water lines - remove the metal pipe that goes around the back of the motor and cut the other line - then u can run the coolant right to the heater core and get rid of the crappy looped hose junk i know u have behind ur motor (its what everyone has before they scrap the water cooled crap).

As for the fittings - they very from turbo to turbo - the HY and HX have different ones believe it or not - and also some hx35 have one - and others have a smaller one.

kentucky slider - if you're going to put a cast terdball manifold from treadstone and a ebay gate - you wont get the results u want. Buy a proper manifold or this turbo isnt going to make you happy. The ebay gates are usually ok if u put copper aircraft neversieze on the shaft.

whoever told you that these will make more top end than a 30R is a retard also. They will make almost exactly the same power as a 30R - slightly less (10-20HP) than a 3076R. and about the same as a 3071.

This forum sucks because ur all cheapos that cut corners and try to homedepot and ebay ur cars. Do it right or dont do it. U are gonna buy tomei cams - and then cheap out on something more vital like ur manifold?!?

totally retarded

oh well, i guess im an a-hole. That doesnt change the fact that the worlds best turbo with a solid gold compressor housing and magical fairy wheels isnt gonna do squat on a poopstain treadstone manifold.

And - anyone that thinks a hx35 car will have more top end than a 30r - is still dumb.

One thing I'm not is dumb a$$hole! I have an 11 second S13 with less than $10K in it and I did most of the work myself(and it doesn't look like SH#* like yours. I already have a tial 38mm gate and my turbo clocked and ready to go on my CAST LOG MANI!!!!! If I can't max out my tune with it then I'll go peak boost when I get bigger injectors and a standalone. Please tell my why you believe you are so omnipotant up there in PA. I get the majority of my holset knowledge from DSMtuner and they even answer my questions without coming across like a freakin smarta$$!! AS for the HX35 won't make more power than a GT30R you are the one that's nuts. The newest HX35 7blade(like mine) flows 60lbs/min. Please show me a garret map of a GT30R that gets even close to that. The HX40 makes 650AWHP in a DSM thats more than any GT35R i've seen.

IF YOU'RE SO SMART, AND WE ARE ALL IDIOTS, THEN PLEASE GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM!!!

721 is a lot more than 650.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forum....html

theres 2 other guys over 690 with the 35r on dsm's.

I have 30+ posts in those very 5 threads about holsets - And the most i've ever seen on a dsm outta a hx35 is 494hp... I've seen 30R's however make well over 500 - check out advanced section of FA - martin XAT just did it on a sr.

Go read all 3500 posts in that thread on tuners and you'll realize you're mistaken.

thats a dsm... behind a s13... in my driveway. With a holset HX35. 2 1/2 years before you even joined this crappy forum. You have pride out the *** for a part you've never even used. If someone asked to trade a hx35 for a 3076r - id instantly do it - because its BETTER.

I'll go back to my crappy dsm boards and freshalloy since you know more than anyone about something you've never used.

The fastest 1/4 time without a dyno is 132mph in a 3100lbs 1g DSM with a HX35 with the stock 12cm2 housing and a T3 tubular at 32psi. Do you think he made that kind of speed with 494whp??? We both know that's not possible. They have maybe 5 dyno runs with HX35's and hundreds with Fp3065's which put out much more IMO then the standard GT30R. Keep in mind we are comparing a $250 used cummins turbo to a $1600 forced performance with a GT30R CHRA. That's not exactly apples to apples in my book!

So I am assuming those of you that posted pictures of your holset setup on your SR you are just running a log style manifold? Again everybody complains that a gt2871r runs about 1k, but its a direct bolt on for the most part. A holset is cheaper, but an actual twin scroll manifold is also 1k. Either way I think you are going to be out 1k. Also how does the gt2871r compare to the hx35?

Came across this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ories . Not sure if its a twin scroll manifold or not though.

^ you best served just reading and researching more...

- the ebay one is not a twin scroll... its one of the many other wierd flanges... maybe mitsubishi or IHI turbos.

- the best way to go with manifolds is to make them. dont spend 1k

- yes, log styles, are all the rage amongst holset people...

- and lastly hx35 flows about 25 - 30% more air then a gt2871 - its rival is the gt30 / gt35... if anyone is else reading please correct me, if im wrong.

Well my friend and the only fabricator I know in my area would probably still want close to 1k to build a twin scroll manifold for me. It seems strange those that run the holsets even without ts manifolds.

there are all different types of holsets

you can get a standard t3 and t4 flange...

doesnt have to be twin scroll

I know, but the twin scroll technology seems pretty sweet and I would like to give it a try. Maybe I need to find somebody locally to get a ride along with to really see if I want to go that route or not.

I feel like bringing this back from the dead, because I'm soon to be using an HX35 on my RB25.

Assuming all other things true, the extra two cylinders and .5L of displacement on the RB25 should make an HX35 scream harder than on a SR20, correct? On the stock manifold for the 25, my only issue is finding someone around here competent enough to create a v-band dump pipe for me that would clear the steering shaft....

the only correct way to do this... is to use a compressor map.

don't make that assumption when investing so much money for a motor.
