so i have a black top sr20det

and im re-doing the turbo system not for crazy power but for a reliable

clean flowing motor

oviously im new to this so i have yet to develop any kind of opinions of my own

first time owner**second nissan

first question

recomended size turbo and psi for a stock sr20 with stock injectors, cams etc

and secondly what are the benefits to top mounting a turbo

i know the turbo is more accessible but is there more to it?

im thinking already if i do a top mount conversion its going to throw off the piping

please correct me if im wrong

^ What he said, but stock T25 should be good up to 13 - 14 pounds of boost.

a ball bearing t28 would be a good choice for the power youre after. top mount turbos give a little more room for big turbos, other than that, i dont know of any benefits. you will have to redo your i/c piping and the downpipe.

I would have to go with everyone else just get gt28 they are stock on the s15 sr20's and as far as boost I would not go more than 15psi on stock setup. As far as the top mount it would be over kill unless you plan on building the whole motor up and plan on hitting like over 500hp.Also srpowered240sx is correct you would need to custom fab a downpipe and hotpipe to get it to work. The sad thing is that their are no pipes already made as kits because all the different styles that are out their.

If you are still running the stock injectors I would replace those and get a retune before upgrading the turbo. You wont be able to make use of the added airflow with proper fuel.
