Here's the deal. I'm trying to convince my dad to help me out by buying an sr20det for my 97 240sx se. I said that if he helped me out with some things, then i would let him race it in SCCA Autocross at the local speedway. He's hesitant about the swap though because if something gets messed up then i will be without a car. How likely is it for a swap to go bad and how can i avoid problems? Does anyone know of any shops that have swap experience in the Nashville area?

The only bad things that can happen in a swap are, the car can fall on you when your under it and you can get a P.O.S motor that wont last long. Ohhh and my favoruite!!! You can get a cut wiring harness lol!

Nick

P.S I hope he buys you one, you and him will LOVE it!

You've ruled out KA-T then? It'd be great for two reasons:1) Your car is newer, and should have a relatively good engine for boosting.2) KA-T's should make better torque throughout the power band, which is critically important for autocross.

go for it, a little basic wiring and some mechanic know how and your set, just make sure you get your motor from the right place.
