I just switched from using mobil 1 10w-30 in my SR to using amsoils 10w-30 formula with an amsoil oil filter and noticed an immense difference. The car seems to rev faster and sounds much better it also feels a bit stronger as well. Just wondering if anyone else uses amsoil in their sr's and whether or not I'm gonna end up hurting my motor by using it. As of right now I'm sold on this stuff b/c it seems to work great.

I haven't used it bc, well, I've only had to change the oil once since I've gotten my SR. The general consensus from what I hear/read is that Amsoil is better than Mobil 1, so i think you're fine, but honestly I don't know firsthand.

I run either WIX or Nissan filters, but Ive been running amsoil 10W40 in my SR for the last 60,000 miles, the oil is still gold even after 3000 miles of my day to day abuse.

Playing around on the dyno with a friends turbo civic, 3 pulls with mobil 10w30 vs 3 pulls with amsoil 10w30 the amsoil pulls made about 3 more HP on average.

Is it that much of a difference? Maybe I'll try Mobil and Amsoil on my SR after i get the swap to see the difference.

I have an old colleague that owns a transmission shop and also races. He races mustangs and miatas. He swears by amsoil, he claims that he has cut down his oil consumption by 50% since switching to amsoil from Mobil 1. He convinced me by showing me the analysis on his wifes suburban, he is now changing the oil ONCE a year on that suburban and it has 150k nmiles on it.Basically his oil analysis showed the Mobil1 deterirating after about 4 months on the suburban and the amsoil reaching the same breakdown point after 13 months. Anyway, I just did the oil change on my wifes montero and switched to amsoil. I will post the anylsis of the synthetic I just pulled out this evening when I receive them, it will be interesting to get a baseline. But to answer your question, I think it will work just great on your Sr, as soon as I change the oil in hte s14sr20det I will do an analysis on that as well.

AMSOIL has the highest flash point of any oil on the market, meaning that it takes more heat than any other oil without breaking down and 'burning'. This is great for turbocharged cars, your turbo wont bake the oil. I have had nothing but good experiences with amsoil, its expensive but a great product.

Here is a freaken awsome website about motor oil. Its got a chart that lists the specs of nearly all types of oil. Check this out ----> http://www.atis.net/oil_faq.html
