Just finished up a s13 blacktop to s13 chasis swap. everything seems to be good except one thing. While putting the car under heavy load at about 4 and a half to 5 rpms the motor just seems to almost die. i am assuming it fuel delivery but am not sure what to look for. has anyone else had this problem ? when taken up to 5 rpms or so at medium throttle the motor does fine.

We will need more info to diagnose.

What is done to the engine, internals, manifolds, turbo?

What fuel pump are you running, and how much fuel pressure.

What intercooler setup do you use, are there any leaks?

What MAFS do you have?

Are there any ECU codes?

How much boost are you making?

Start with that.

yeah i've got the same problem, going to look at the levels on the MAF at lunch and see if they are way out, i've also heard you can unplug it completely and see if it makes any difference in the way it runs....when i hit 4-5k under load it completely cuts out...also check for boost leaks...one of my couplings came off the first time when i hit 4k

If you unplug the MAFS the ECU will enter safe mode. The engine will idle normally, but it will be limited to 2500 rpms.

stock motor and turbofront mount walbro fuel pumpstock mafsrunning boost pressure silanoid so i assume im running 11 poundsthe idle is smooth so im guessing no boost leaksim gonna check for codes later today

I take it you are not running a boost gauge? I would temp delete the boost solenoid, and revert to waste gate spring pressure. It is possible that you are getting fuel cut due to over boosting.

What spark plugs are you running? You may be getting spark blow out.

What are the plugs gapped to?

Have you checked your coil packs for cracking?

im running NGK Iridiums heat 6 i thought they were pre-gaped but i know i shouldnt always rely on that, what would be the correct gapping

ill check coil packs and delete the solenoid

the boost solenoid runs to 11 lbs -- it is actually like a two stage solenoid it will hold pressure at partial throttle to around 7 lbs then when you step on it -- it will go up to 10 lbs or so. I run an srt4 boost gauge which works great.

I had something similar happen to my turbo-- it would backfire, would not boost and would cut out under load. Turned out to be carbon build up in my hotpipe and chargepipe -- the hard lines make sure they are clean and unobstructed.

For your boost level .028 - .030 should work fine. The preset gap is not correct.
