Ok, I'm just reading about these earlier today and I'm not even sure if I called them the name right now. But is there a way to have a shutterbox on a SR?

Where when you're going to launch your car the rev limiter is dropped to whatever RPM you want. Like if you launch your car at 4k the rev limiter drops to 4k so you launch there and not have to worry about getting the revs up and holding them there.

Import Itelligance sells the Kits under thier performance electronics sections or Bee*R sells them. They are hard on the turbo but good for keeping the turbo spooled. Im going to get one sometime but it will only be used when I need to launch.

Also what cluster is that in that Vid? it looks like a DSM cluster.

Is that what the guys who use anti-lag use or something? I dont see how it would be hard on the turbo but I'm still trying to figure them out. From what I understand is that is just lowers the limiter so that you can launch at 4K without having to rev up and try to find the right spot to hold the pedal at, you just push in until it hits rev limiter.

EDIT: Ok I'm reading Import Intelligence's discription of the device. I guess it is what people use for anti-lag... I wonder if theres a way to have it just lower the rev limiter and not have it run air "flow through the engine as if you were flooring it during normal driving." Just have it be like you're reving the engine... or does air flow through like that anyways when you're revving up to launch?

If you bounce it off the factory limit it will do the same thing but it is much harder on the motor and not just on the turbo.

The Anti Lag system loads the exhaust up with fuel then when that fuel hits the manifold walls it explodes due to the heat which spools the turbo.

Like I said if you dont use it all the time its not to hard on the turbo.

Just figured that I would throw my 2 cents in.

The 2 satge rev limiter can be done with an MSD DIS DIS-2 ignition system that can be installed on the car. I know that Enjuku racing was running one on one of their drift cars.

The MSD ignition box wires into the ignition, and then you install a button or hook it to the clutch pedal wiring. You then set the RPM that you want the launch at (dials n switches on the msd box)

If you are holding the button or your foot is on the clutch pedal (depending on how you wired it up, the rpm's will only go to the preset level. This is not as bad on the motor as one might think, as now several manufactures are instlaling them opn newer vehicles, so that the rpm's cannot be taken to redline while the vehicle is in park.... such as the newer GM vehicels.

the system GM is installing on thier vehicles is to keep people from revving the piss out of them, it is a differant system then a launch control revlimiter with antilag, most standalone EMSs have parameters for both launch control and antilag, although the use of antilag greatly reduces the turbos life, the turbo in the rally car I service for needs a rebuild everyonther race at least ,due to the use of antilag, but I know of people running the same system minus the antilag and thier turbos last more than twice as long, usualy

Will the short spool caused by the Bee*R and Import Intelligence launch controls damage the turbos? I dont want to be rebuilding the turbo all the time

any launch control that uses antilag to spool up befor the launch will decreas the life of the turbo, as long as its only used occasionally for launching you shouldnt have too much of a drop in turbo life, the constant antilag between shifts is what really ruins turbos

Yea rally cars use them to keep the turbo spooled between shifts which is why they wear down turbos quickly. Imagine your a turbo and your whole life your abused how long do you last?
